I like the concept of bringing Illidan, a fan favorite and iconic pointy boi back. He was a really cool and interesting character that wasn’t done any justice in TBC. I am glad they brought him back for redemption, but I didn’t like how he had this strange ability to have everything coming out of his mouth being some zingy one-liner. It felt cheap and goofy, but in a way it served almost as a function of comic relief to contrast with the existential crisis of having Azeroth overrun by the burning legion.

The datamined voice lines are very clearly about Arthas. Nothing revelatory about Sylvanas in 9.2 has really been datamined yet.

I am a little suspicious that this description is actually how they’re writing it because it wouldn’t make any sense to try to spin it this way. If it ends up being true it really would highlight how absolutely God awful they are at writing a comprehensible story.
Except she attempts to persuade Zovaal several times early on about how it would be better to win him over than control him outright.
No matter which way you try to spin this it wouldn’t make sense from someone consuming the media to expect this kind of plot twist which is why I’m suspicious of the OP’s version of events being accurate.
This spin would work if there was exposition that hinted at her predicament such as her acting like more mindless when Zovaal presumed he was alone yet she acts like she has free will when in the presence of others, but there has been zero indication this was ever the case and any attempt to try to sell us on it is just sloppy storytelling at that point.

I had a strong feeling they were going to do something like this back when the tree first burned and the whole Undercity thing happened. I posted about it, and while some agreed, a confusingly large amount of people argued and couldn’t see it. I think they were just blinded by hate for her, causing foolish illogical thoughts to prevail.
Shadowlands comes out, and it seemed even more obvious.
The Sylvanas raid basically proved it to me. 100% confirmed. I don’t even need to see the PTR dialog to believe it. What else could they possibly do with it at this point?

Given what she says thats almost 100% what she was referring to. She tried to murder Arthas for making her destroy her own people that she died to defend.
