has the company considered a more proactive approach to banning bots? i just found 7 of them farming spider silk and leather all rogues with a variation of {Name variation removed, just in case they are real samples}" as their name, and i watched one hit 25 from level 24.
How do i know they’re bots? Theyre combat is just the same as an NPC, if your fighting one, and run away. they will either follow you until they leave combat and start eating/drinking or completely ignore you. ontop of that, theres always a few seconds delay if you ambush a player with a range spell while that player figures out where you are and charges your way, not this “person” i hid behind a tree in stealth, popped Farie fire on the rog, and he ran straight for me. ontop of that he was able to follow my exact movements like a NPC.
The great thing is, I dont ever leave the main city, i just happened to find the motivation to go get a Druid rune in dusk wood, and BAM ran into a gang of bots.
If you guys need help bot bashing, because the 2-3 month wait time to ban a bot isnt helping when they can turn a profit on the account in 3-5 days, id be more than glade to be an unpaid volunteer to be a GM on Lone wolf NA and handle the bot problem.
They do investigate and ban on the fly, so don’t think that ban waves are all there is. However if a new bot program is found, or even a new exploit, the hacks team will investigate it and try to gather as much information as possible before sending out individual penalties, which can actually warn the hackers that there software is detected.
Technically you suspect they’re bots, but could technically be legit multi boxers which is technically still allowed. But that’s why you report your suspicions, and let the hacks team investigate, though it might take time.
Thanks, Uncle, but we’re good. We ask only that you use the right=click report option if you see someone who you suspect may be botting or otherwise exploiting.
We understand that we may not move as quickly as some would like, or don’t get all of the ones that you may see. The goal is to do what we can to block, detect or eliminate the accounts doing this without negatively impacting legitimate players as best as we can.
We have some successes and some failures, but we continue to work on improving our methods.
In case anyone was wondering, I locked the thread because from here we often have a bunch of back and forth. We have specific folks who jump into these kinds of threads to give their 2 coppers, and while feedback is appreciate, this it not the place for it as Customer Support is not involved in the majority of these investigations.
If you have any feedback/suggestions I’d recommend submitting a suggestion through the in-game interface option found under the Support Menu. That can be directed to the appropriate folks.
