So whats the line between proper representation and "pandering"

It’s not pushing ideology, it’s the existence of gay side characters in quests that are completely avoidable. Blink and you’ll miss them.

There’s no “political statement” in that, the politics is people coming to forums to whine about it every single time there’s any sort of LGBT characters in a video game. You are making it political by arguing against gay people being in games-- LGBT people are not being political by merely existing in spaces you’re a part of.

Dude, I’m not the one losing my mind over seeing black or brown or gay people in a video game. And yes, you should be ashamed of complaining about that.

This situation was pollical before I made it so. You are just upset over my different view that this isn’t working and causing a mess.

I will not be shamed into submission by the likes of you over pointing out that this pushing of politics is causing problems.

“pandering” is a term use when things bigots dislike are presented. Not in an over the top way, not in a shoved in your face way, but just there.

That seeing black or brown or gay people is “pushing politics” to you is telling, no?

At least you guys should be honest. Just say, “I don’t want to see black or brown or gay people” rather than hide behind veiled language.

1.) You didn’t make anything political, because you have no individual impact in the world. people like you made it political. By that, I mean angry bigots who freak out and cry every time they’re forced to acknowledge the existence of people in groups they don’t like.

2.) I’m not upset just because I think you’re wrong. I’ve encountered way too many people with your views to get angry every time I encounter the next copy pasted weirdo in online text communications.

3.) It’s “not working” to you because you don’t like it, in reality almost nobody thinks negatively of it outside of people who dislike gay people (or insert whatever group right wing zealots don’t like that week)

There’s like one black character and wrathion is the only brown one lol… they are doing a piss poor job of providing any diversity.

A bunch of companies always get away with hiring LGBTQ caucasians and claiming it’s “diverse”

A master stroke would have been making ALL of Zandalar black and brown humans since they blatantly ripped off Wakanda” and Mayan architecture

I never said that and you are shoving words in my mouth.

That’s what I don’t get. These people will just moan and complain about it all day long but they’re too cowardly to just ask for what they want rather than just saying “things have gotten too political lately…”

It’s like they’re incapable of doing anything other than lazy dog whistling because they know how unattractive their thoughts are to anyone who doesn’t explicitly agree with them already.

I don’t disagree that they could do a better job with diversity, but it is clear they are at least trying.

You are just like the other person devolving into shaming tactics and insults. I will not bend to this harassment.

Then explain how every time people see a gay person or a black or brown person in this game it is “pushing politics” or some “woke agenda” or whatever else you people say.

You and me both. The gay rights thing is getting kind of sickening.

Thank you for at least being honest and not hiding behind veiled language.

What you want has already been explained by others. My view is that things were fine for decades, no one complained and people were happy.

Thanks, I find you sickening too-- you and all of the other creepy older men weirdos who make disliking groups of people into a personality when all of this is super easy to ignore/avoid unless you seek it out to be a mad little baby about it.

People were happy-- as long as they were conforming to the “ideal” image that society held for people. The idea that discrimination didn’t exist “for decades” because you didn’t experience it or know people who experienced it is pretty laughable.

You should make more older gay friends. I’d feel bad for them for having to put up with you, but maybe some of their perspectives and stories would leak into you and make you realize how obnoxiously wrong you are when you say nonsense like this.

Or maybe some even older black friends who were alive in the Jim Crow era. They were “happy” back then too, right? None of this “political” nonsense to bog them down.

When you say “no one complained” for decades, you’re excluding all the black, brown, gay people, and women who in fact were saying it was a problem.

When you say “no one complained” for decades, you understand that the white people creating the media you consumed were purposefully excluding those people from being in the spotlight, right?

Edit: If it means anything to you, i respect that you’re not being a jerk about this conversation. We are clearly disagreeing, but I think its civil, and I’m appreciative of that, and wanted to recognize it. So thank you.

The establishment said exactly the same thing when civil rights was a major issue.
