It is mainstream media. Its literally one of the most trafficked sites in the world. How is that not mainstream?
So gay people should only exist to further the overall storyline? Why cant they just exist?

My opinion. If they are going to represent a group they need to represent all groups with no exceptions. So atm I am annoyed and would like to be represented also.
It is mainstream right now to the point they regurgitate American media likes it is a fact. They have zero understanding of the world but they just vomit the same politically correct opinions as the news and twitter tells them to.
Sometimes they get it right and go against the media, like the railroad strike and how they should do it regardless of the bill, but most of the time they just share the same mainstream sentiment you will see “woke” Hollywood talk about without actually doing anything about it.
That site likes rings of power ffs and say anyone that hates it is a racist or sexist or whatever the media tell them to say and think about the people who dislike it.
The mainstream media consists of the big 3 networks, CNN, FOX and MSNBC, Not reddit, Newsmax, OAN or any podcaster you may follow. It’s best for people to just avoid the mainstream and search for other outlets where they might actually get an unbiased report of a news story.
When you stick a quest with a no-name NPC into your game where his second or third line of dialogue is how he wants to make a gift for his husband, you’re engaging in pandering. Exploring a dangerous uncharted island full of murder dragons, murder centaurs, murder frogs and murder gnolls and the first thing you think of is to ring up an adventurer to help you make a present for your husband? What?
And to be clear- it’d still be weird if it were a straight couple. Lady, I’m an adventurer, why are you asking me to go get your husband a gift?
Granted, part of the problem with Warcraft is that Blizzard refuses to acknowledge the existence of the player character- representation done right is a character like Tracer. She’s the poster girl for Overwatch, and she’s a lesbian. You’d just never have it shoved down your throat because it’s only one facet to her character. It’s difficult to do this in World of Warcraft because the major lore characters still treat your character as a perfect stranger. We have seen Jaina at her best and worst and she still treats us like a glorified acquaintance. It is very difficult to do representation right when your lore characters don’t even treat the player character like they exist.
That withstanding, good representation would be Geya’rah being lesbian. Or bisexual. Major lore character, not difficult to see why things would go that way considering the trauma of having to live on WOD-timeline Draenor and watch your entire civilization get turned upside down by weirdo Holy Light cultists. Not strictly a character designed to appeal to strictly heterosexual interests.
Another good example of pandering is Sansok Khan. Supposedly the peerless huntress of all centaur on the Dragon Isles. She’s also deaf. As in, she can’t hear. Probably the most important sense a hunter can have. So immediately either her entire clan is incompetent, or she’s a Mary Sue. And a much less complicated solution exists: She could have just been mute. The sign language thing could have evolved from communicating using hand signals hunters would use during the hunt because you don’t want to make noise without reason. Sansok’s character makes no sense.
You dont get to decide arbitrarily what is or is not the “mainstream media”.
Oh, so only weird? Not pandering to the straights? You obviously dont know what rpg stands for.
Even if we take it at face value and assume it’s pandering, it doesn’t seem to me like a lot of players had an issue with pandering when they were the ones being pandered to.
It’s not like half the female characters were running around half naked and plate armour in the early days went from “full plate” on a male character to “barely even there” on a female character for any reason except pandering.
People talk about the characters being one note but most of them are one off NPCs, which in WoW were never interesting or well written. It’s not like we knew a whole lot about Mankrik besides he wanted to find his wife.
You could take Mankrik, make it his husband instead and change nothing else about that, and people would suddenly complain it’s pandering because it’s such a shallow character.
The reason why a lot of people aren’t taking those arguments seriously is because pandering and one note NPCs never seemed to be an issue right up until it was a LGBT NPC that was doing it.
That’s usually how it goes anywhere. If you’re on the side of all the good attention, you dont care what happens to the lesser beings not on your side. Most of the time it’s blindness/ignorance to problems which makes it rather innocent.
Blizzard really needs to make more sexy looking armor for male characters. I want more bulge cupping pants with parts of my butt hanging out. I need chest pieces with my abs showing.
I’m not the decider, this is pretty much the accepted position on the subject. Go out on the street and ask 10 people what the mainstream media is, and you’re going to get that answer from a clear majority. These networks have run the show for a long time. They used to be actual news outlets, now they are opinion shows that exist to keep their current audience in place so they can sell advertising.
Listen, if you are getting your news coverage from somewhere else, great, I support that. I get mine from the dreaded “alternative media”. But don’t ignore the reality of what the mainstream is, and who pretty much holds the keys to it.
Pandering for me, but not for thee.
“Pandering” is just a dog whistle for what they really have a problem with: groups they don’t like being included.
I want more tasteful sexy clothing that isn’t just walking around in what amounts to a bikini.
but yeah when it comes to our characters, more options is the best route to go because we can choose what kind of outfit we want to put on.
Also for the love of all that is holy Blizzard, make better looking cloth armour.
Again, stop making up things based on YOUR feelings. I can guarantee with 100% certainty that no, i would not get those answers. Hell, if i asked anyone over 60, they would say facebook. Anyone under 25, TikTok. etc. etc.
I don’t give a sh*t what anyone does, who they are, how they lead their lives or what they’re in to - unless you’re rappin, pillagin or mukdukkin… F/O I don’t care.
The world would be a better place if more people with my mentality.
Some other popular media sources where people get their info is Facebook and YouTube. Oh and don’t forget about TikTok. It seems that the growing influence of social media is making people get their info from it. No matter where you find information, it is best to make sure that the source is credible (.org, .gov websites are good examples) and provides sources/references.
Dropping herbalism due to a certain quest, nah. ![]()
No one is saying they aren’t popular, but they aren’t what people are talking about when they use the term MSM. Now, if you want to adopt the term legacy media, as many are doing, that is fine with me. In any case, I’m all for them being jettisoned into the dustbin of history for the reason I already outlined.
lol pathetic
gardening is confirmed for the gays i guess

Depends on the person, but I can see your point that most people think of MSM as something like Fox or CNN. It seems that the definition of mainstream media is expanding over time to include things like social media (Facebook, etc.); I tend to talk about MSM and social media separately.
Never heard of that term. Thanks for sharing that.
MSM has definitely turned into a entertainment based reporting style instead of just stating the facts. I mean, after all, in order to maintain viewership, they have to cater to their audience. Social media falls into this same trap, too. I like to use credible sources for my research/info and make sure that when a writer/speaker states something, they provide good evidence.
