So, what'd the Forsaken do in Gilneas again?

yeah you headcanon isnt canon, so stop talking like it, varian said it was plagued in mop and thats what we got to go on if we only take the game stuff, if we take the game stuff its occupied. and its current status is unknow cause they have said anything

Tyrande’s right, honestly. I can see why the millenias old Priestess of Elune is really indifferent toward the teenager trying to humansplain political theory to her.

The Nelves would’ve stood alone if not for the werewolf chimney sweeps. And they don’t contribute any boss. Just trash mobs. She’s right to be very angry.

are you ok? I dunno how deep into spoilers you are, but I can tell you the nelves and the horde arent actively fighting dude, you high or something?

If you paid attention to your quests the reason you’re evacuating with the Night Elves is that the Forsaken are Blighting the entire country. It’s not shown in game the way it is with the Undercity, but Gilneas is essentially one giant death zone now.

I think its shown well enough, you literally get a quest to slow it down by blowing some of the plague wagons

It’s a world of pretend. I’m guilty of it too but trying to cite sources like this is a serious historic conversation is embarassing.

I can dress a Dwarf Shaman in yellow and say he’s a dimensionally displaced pikachu if I want. There’s no lore that says that isn’t possible.

The lore gets retconned constantly. And this whole story is asinine even by fantasy standards. Why anyone cares about it outside trying to set ground rules for their own stories is bewildering to me.

yeah by the devs, you arent a dev, so your headcanon is literally pointless. Its honestly pretty garbage of you to try to past it as actual game story tbh. You can have theorys and speculation, but thats what it is theories and speculation.

Correct, but unlike the Undercity you can still travel into the Gilneas empty zones.

What was supposed to happen but didn’t was that Gilneas City was supposed to become a large epic PVP battleground on the scale of Alterac Valley where you’d have house to house fighting for control of the territory. Unfortunately, they couldn’t work out the technical issues, and the project was abandoned.

You most certainly can. Just as I can most certainly put you on /ignore. You’re allowed speech. You’re not entitled to an audience.

Nor does him doing that make it canon that pikachu is in the game canon now.

I’m not particularly concerned with canon. What little in game rp I get is about player characters and generally it does not reference the metastory.

You’re quite right. You have to earn one with thiese things called practice and talent.

Typically at least. There’s a lot of conflicting opinions on WoW writing but with BFA at least; nobody likes it. Because hiring novelists to direct a video game storyline is a bad idea.

Instead of enjoying this story it’s one I actively have to work around. Because I am here trying to entertain people with interesting user created content. That’s basically all RP is.

I didn’t think Classic aged well at all, from a core gameplay perspective. With casting at least the controls felt tank like. SPriest in particular was hilariously OP in PvP. And the game seemed designed to bore me with travel times and gold farming.

But what worked so well is that the world was the story. It didn’t give you lengthy stories about Tyrande or Windrunner. It presented a storied world, let the player decide how much they wanted to be invested, and let you make your own story in it. It was just a digital D&D.

The narrative becoming a dumb soap opera about the most cliche characters imaginable, while our own characters get to be simultaneously the most important person but also a nobody, was a disaster.

I honest to God hope every last single name brand character dies in the first quest of SL. Take the focus off of them, put it back unto the world and organic storytelling, and have their heirs be of minimal importance. Let them stand in their little boss arenas as the WPVP objectives they are with exclamation marks over their head and have them be story relevant only as organizers for player action.

Development and use of the plague was literally crimes under Horde laws, ones set up by Thrall during Wrath of the Lich King after the Wrathgate, and specifically mentioned to still be a crime under Garrosh during the Worgen intro.

The Forsaken also allied with Alpha Prime, and helped to make the worgen outbreak much worse in doing so. Alpha Prime was an objectively dangerous and evil character who planned on using the Gilneans to create a massive Wolfcult army and take over Kalimdor once done with stuff in Gilneas.

Give them a break. They got confused and thought they were allying with Optimus Prime. Honest mistake.

oh fair, honest mistake indeed

Honest to God I’m just feeling bad for Worgen. I’ve had an interest in them since werewolves fall under the Halloween umbrella of stuff I find neat.

But there really is so little about their new nature. The Worgen is their true form, they just merely appear human. And in BC at least we got this great bit of lore in the Torment of the Worgen;

"I did this. I don’t remember doing it, but it cannot be otherwise.

I have committed sins in my life before. I even killed a man once who didn’t deserve it. But this is different.

I am changed.

These murders were not my choice. A beast lives inside of me.

I will be hunted and shunned. I need to hide. Run. Bury the bodies.

I start to walk outside when I realize what truly bothers me.

I feel no guilt."

That’s compelling. Keep in mind this wolf form was so dangerous that Malfurion went mad trying it. Yeah the Nelves developed some chill pill moon juice. But the idea of being, at heart, a creature that wants to stalk dark forests and mutilate lone travelers just isn’t brought up much.

I think both the Worgen and Forsaken could be great foils for eachother. And you could liken their unnatural prey drives to addiction problems. Where there’s these bad things they want to do, all the time, and resiting it takes real effort.

But instead. Meh. Idk maybe the Worgen side of Stormheim will touch on this later. But I’m not expecting much.

umm we are going to shadowlands

Technically if a tiny drop of blight droped to Gilneas that truth. Did he specified how much Gilneas was blighted.
