Seems to me that the player base is getting older. When I started playing WoW, we called it Dungeons and Dragons, and your avatar was a little figurine made of lead.
I was 21 when I first played, now I’m 31.
It’s an older game. And the target audience for a subscription based MMO like this was definitely older teens-20’s. And beyond that, WoW is ‘kind of’ the last old-blood MMORPG. So the people that spent years and years on Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies, Ultimate Online etc then went to WoW, and WoW is certainly the most lively of all those old games. So give it nearly 14 years and a lot of those people are pushing into their middle or later middle years.
I was old when rpgs were young!
I am going to take a guess here and say average age is like mid 30s.
Well, I have been here since the game started and I’m almost 70 years old now - still playing. Of course, I’m not raiding and stuff like that because my reaction time is not the best and I don’t want to burden the other players. I think we have a much older group hanging out in WoW these days and I’m enjoying the heck out of it - I do enjoy the youngsters and helping out a new player is always fun for me.
I was 29 when I started at the end of Wrath in 2009. I’m 39 now. I feel like i’m about the average.
I’m 34 and my best WoW friend I play with almost every day is 76.
27, though I turn 28 in 2 weeks.
I was 14 when I started playing back in 05, took a break from Mists and WoD, came back in Legion.
25 here. Most people I meet are mid 20s-mid 30s.
Im 52. Been here since the beginning, took a break for MOP and WOD. Came back for Legion. Loving it.
I’m just about 22 and have had some dealings with it before Wrath and a few trials here and there.
It trips me out sometimes that I first played WoW as a child during a snow day at school, and now I am a professor myself.
Time is…strange.
53 here. love the game, hate my hunter… and where the game is heading…
94 in September.
I’ll be 30 next month. Listening to a d&d podcast at work right now btw… need to find an online game
I started to play when I was 8, never got passed the Barrens on my Tauren Druid and I always clicked the ability buttons rather than using the number keys for them. Didn’t know my rotation at all.
Now I’m 20 and going 10k damage in PVP. Who would of thought that level 11 Druid would have grown up to be a Worgen Rogue with Horde Slayer?
I was 15 when I first started playing. I’m 28 now.
i played Star Frontiers paper and dice rpg when i was 12 back in 1985. stepped up to the Gold Box SSI AD&D PC adaptations around 1992. got hooked on WoW in 2008 and here we are today
I started shortly after vanilla launch at 15, then took a break during MoP… Interesting pattern.
Most people I knew during vanilla were aged 20-25, or 40-55. I bumped into a few aged 12-16
