So what’s with classes being ignored on alpha?

We need to be fair. Blizz did say that but that was about wod demonology. They made that spec so broken they felt they needed to gut it so people would play the other specs.

This statement was not made as a blanket, for all time description of their feelings.

Criticize what is wrong. applaud what is right. Dont twist things to suit your narrative. That is how constructive conversations are held.

It was about upcoming Legion demonology. We’re talking about changes they were making to take meta from demo and give it to demon hunters. Looking back it’s clear that was what was coming.

Again… Frost mages have been broken the entire alpha and still haven’t been fixed.

Blizzard isn’t playing favourites, they just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Turns out they’ve a lot to do when building an expansion. lol

Doesn’t make any sense considering each class should have it’s own team.

No they really shouldn’t.

They typically work on a few classes at a time.

Then I guess that’s why classes continually get worse as time goes on, not better? People working on multiple classes and playing favorites.

At no point in WoW’s history, afaik, has there been a dedicated team to each class, and they worked on all classes at once. Even during Vanilla when they had the big class reviews, it was one class at a time.

Its just not feasible to hire multiple people for each class. Not financially sound, because that isn’t enough work year round.

They don’t really care, and they are trying to fix class imbalances, and gaps in their game play through covenants and more borrowed power. Nothing new really.

I think it’s more that they have a pipeline and so many things they can work on at a given them. I’m not sure if there’s a “[class] Dev Ops” role either. I’d assume that their developers have to work on multiple projects, and based on their timeline, they have to shift around projects/tasks.

Like it doesn’t surprise me that Shaman’s are getting a lot of attention right now is because of how delayed their class changes have been. I’m sure the others will get changes in time, but those further down the pipeline will be more rushed.

Yet there have been some pretty big changes to core gameplay for quite a few specs/classes so far.

Clearly, currently there would be enough work year round. Financially… Yeah, multi-billion dollar company, sorry. If there was no sub and microtransactions I might believe you.

People have been crying for changes to sham and many other classes/specs all expansion and during the expansion they go ‘oh, we can’t do that… gotta wait until next xpac.’ See: Spriest and Enh sham, etc still.

Whether said changes are appreciated is another topic entirely, haha.

that’s Blizzard testing methodology: release alpha, ignore feedback, let bad stuff go into beta, ignore even more feedback, let the bad stuff from alpha and beta into the main game then take down the game on the first week after release to fix the stuff they ignored during alpha and beta, it’s been like this since always as far as i know.

You think there would be enough work year round for what…36+ people to do nothing but class design year round?

Well there you go /thread

I mean there’s articles detailing the process they went through to create the beautiful MoP iteration of warlocks.

Shouldn’t be hard to replicate that magic for every class in SL if they wanted to put in the effort.

While others go completely ignored, such as shadow priest, holy priest, hunter specs, and some others.

Warrior changes look freaking awesome, I’m not saying they aren’t doing anything. All I’m saying is if I mained something like a hunter I’d be a tad peeved too. Shadowlands was supposed to be the return to class/player agency and the glorious un-prune but some classes have gotten no feedback. I’m still optimistic that they’ll do those things to those classes, but I understand why some people are annoyed.

Yes, until they get it down and correct. Then they can shift and move people around when things are considered ‘good and well’ not while everything is broken and it’s been… how many expansions?

Stupid threads like this are another reason why Alpha should not be public.
