The legion precedent where there wasn’t a currency to reset and when you couldn’t upgrade items, huh? That’s a funny precedent where nothing is comparable.
How about BFA or Shadowlands, where there was no currency to reset and you couldn’t upgrade items?

Not necessarily gear still needs to be upgraded get certain ilvl also not all trinkets are treated equally. There are trinkets even in s1 that having a 603 i lvl is better than having a myth with bad effects. Also that’s assuming you get lucky and even get a good trinket in the first week. Ilvl 639 is still going to be used for multiple weeks, maybe even longer depending on rng
okay, so you agree it’s not actually worthless. congrats on the upgrade! 
While we are in here does anyone know when the Bronze celebration tokens are going to be converted into timewalking badges? I remember Blizz specifically saying this.

No it’s worthless because i had the 626 version vault was 623 if i can’t upgrade it it’s worthless. Why are you even debating this if I want to waste my time upgrading it and it get immediately replaced that’s on me, instead we have this dead week with nothing to increase my character to jump into s2 stronger.

I feel like ive been used and abused.
I don’t recall getting S2 crests, but don’t go by me anecdote. However, I do know the bountiful trove/chest yielded S1 loot when I did Sidestreet Sluice on a T8 before maintenance this morning:

This is another irritation of mine, yes, it will be replaced in a week, but at least it would of given me a reason to log on this week and actually play and given me higher gear/item level to go into season 2 with.

A band-aid solution could be to change the cost of S1 Nascent crests on the vendor to Valorstones as the currency instead of the S1 crests. That way people who are swapping for guilds or whatever reasons can at least craft gear and doing the S1 dungeons/raid stays relevant for farming sparks and valorstones.
Those coins got exchanged like s month ago you should have more time walking than you had before. You might be misremembering how many coins you actually had
Yup, same. Finally after weeks and weeks of grinding…got spymasters and can’t even use it. Great.

No, I had the celebration tokens prior to the patch and now they are not there. I know because I kept specifically checking every week waiting for them to convert. Others in the bug report forums are having the same problem.
the celebration tokens were converted to badges
1:25 conversion i think whatever that vendor had given them for tokens when they were current

you can upgrade your gear for S2 now, i.e. the stuff you get from world content.
