So Wait Six Weeks?

Anyone else read that differently? I will simply wait six weeks then do the entire thing all at once. Time gating is just annoying.

The more I read about patch 10.0.7 Classic the more I am extremely uninterested. We did this before but better in Dragonflight. Why are we doing everything the same but worse?

Time gating the flying is amazingly irritating and serves no practical purpose that the previous restrictions on flying did not. It’s just designed to arbitrarily slow us down. Players have complained bitterly about this in the past, and I really thought Blizz had learned from past mistakes.

“But the island is small” Neat. I don’t care. You can use your ground mount if that’s your preference. You have the ability to choose your ground mount at any time, in fact, and my ability to choose my flying mount doesn’t stop you from making that choice. If you want to argue that the ability to use a flying mount is so convenient that not doing so is a mistake, then you acknowledge that this restriction is a serious inconvenience.

It’s like they keep bouncing back and forth but after seeing 11.1 I am starting to think flying is back on the chopping block.

It’s not, drama queen.

11.1’s ground mount mechanic isn’t about getting rid of flight. It’s about trying something new with the ground mount because everyone tends to agree that it’s pretty boring in its current state. Sure, some people might like to see environments from the ground vs the air, but the actual experience of riding a ground mount itself is extremely dated.

I think the time gating on this teensy zone and the overall timeline to max out the new ring is way out of place, though.

It’s like every time they design something new for us it ends up being time gated. Why can’t we consume new content when we choose? Oh, wait we can I just have to ignore it for five weeks and have it all unlocked for the 6th week.

Because they are scared to rework classes that need to be reworked and are copying what they did in DF instead bit by bit. Even the 0.5 pala rework and making prot pala the meta over prot warrior :joy:

i agree that time-gating this ring at the end of the season feels very bad and makes me want to not engage with the system entirely.

end of the season is supposed to be when we actually get to have fun and enjoy our gear that we worked for during the whole season - we diligently filled our vaults every single week (many times getting nothing but sockets) and finally we have our full gear and want to enjoy playing the game.

now we have to spend six weeks doing chores to finish up a ring near the end?

can we please make this ring like forbidden reach where you could just grind the whole thing out in a day and let us just enjoy the end of the season?

and we also have to grind this chore for six weeks without the ability to fly?

this entire patch just sounds unenjoyable in every way to me.

how about blizzard tries something new with ground mounts while also allowing us the ability to choose to fly?

that way, people who love flying can fly and those who want to try out the new ground mount thing can do it if they choose.

Would be nice to get confirmation if we will have to do these chores every week or can we just wait and do them all at once in a timely manner after we wait 6 weeks?

Not yet but they are continuing the war against flight hoping to see a different outcome but we are here to remind them of the WoD fiasco. I warned people continuously, and some people may call me chicken little but what I say holds some merit and weight!

We must send a message that is not okay to attack flying for open world content.

Honestly? There’s vast number of players who don’t care about this at all or prefer ground mounts since the world ends up feeling bigger as a result and the journeys to destinations can sometimes lead to more distractions in War Mode specifically.

That is how most of these systems have worked in the past. I wouldn’t expect this one to be any different. Why do this over 6 weeks when it is completable in an afternoon.

That isn’t true because flying and dragon flying mounts tend to be the most popular mounts people pursue in game and in the shop.

This is BlizZard hurting themselves and their own shop sales in the process.

The cynic in me says it’s to prepare the masses for absolutely no flying in 11.1 with undermine. More likely it is a case of bLiZrD knows best, and by that I mean knows nothing at all.

This D.R.I.V.E. mechanic better be like really fun because an entire season and zone closed to flying doesn’t really interest me right now.

For me it is an easy pass.

if I want to see GTA I just book a flight to Miami for the winter months not play to experience that for patch 11.1

“You think you do, but you don’t.”

It’s short sighted design because they are angry we did not bend over and accept it in WoD. They have been on a crusade ever since to make it as annoying as possible to fly. Nevermind the fact that horse left the barn in TBC.

Dynamic Flying was maybe an attempt to annoy but instead it was a hit with many players. For those it wasn’t. That got the option to turn it off. Seems to me they are on the fence. Like sometimes they embrace flying but it is too difficult to design engaging content around with this 8-week patch cadence. So, they are kicking themselves in the butt. Will be interesting to see how the drive system shakes out.
