So uhhhhh, the anniversary buff?

It’s still a downgrade from the “automatic” or “passive” XP buff of the previous events

Having to do a “progress bar” on each individual alt to get the full XP bonus is obviously a nerf compared to the previous events where you just logged in and got the full XP buff by checking your mailbox (takes mere seconds)

They probably thought a 55% buff (max warband, anniversary, and dark moon fair) was too much and would eat into character services.

I was about to say “ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME” but then you said this:

Very true, very true.

That one got me.

No cheevo for logging in for 20 yr event.

I think they forgot tbh.

I knew it was going downhill when they started content gating me with a log in screen. It was only a matter of time before I’d be expected to do things to get stuff.

But the max buff is still 55%. 10% anniversary + 10% 12 hours from the quest + 10% event (DMF or Hallow’s End) + 25% Warband.

They’ve simply made 10% of it more annoying to get for no reason.

What this actually hurts is people who use the anniversary to grind legacy reps. Last year you could get +39% on the pirates, goblins and chest hands ins for Insane in the Membrane. Now it’s 10% base + 10% event and +10% for the 12 hour buff but that’s probably not worth getting since you’ll spend more time getting the buff than it would’ve given you from just grinding rep.

If you do quests for rep it’s a slightly different story. I guess it might still be worth it for the chest hand in.

Still, this year is objectively worse for such things than recent anniversaries.

I heard there is an exploit that if you log in all your toons at once, the buffs stack. do the math at 55 toons?! you can ding 80 exploring Elwynn.

Yep this is true and everyone should try to do it.

That extra 10% that lasts for 12 hours is a slog to obtain. Have to wonder if it is worth it. I obtained it this morning for the first time and it will be almost expired by the time I can play again.

Did you know there is a cap to how many toons you can have? I didn’t until i hit it o.o,

My guild hopped around a lot, rather than paying blizzard even more money I would just spend my insomnia nights power leveling a new toon whenever they transferred xD

It’s prob because of the rep tokens if i had to guess, but if you wait until DMF is back it will be a lot. With the 2 buffs totaling 20% today I maxed out Hydraxian Waterlords and Zandalar Tribe with 600 rep per token.

you’ll get the achiev in november, like the rest of them.

Wait, the XP buff doesn’t “snapshot” when you log off (for example: log off with “10 hours” left, take a break, log back in later in the day and it still shows “10 hours” left)? Well that’s lame

The simplest and least brain-straining way to finish the XP quest is to open the chest in the pet area, grab the pet mirror, use it to turn into a pet, then go sit in the basket next to the world boss/korrak’s revenge quest guy. You’ll get 1% quest progress every couple of seconds.

Que up for a timewalking dungeon at the same time. If you haven’t finished the quest by the time the que pops, then the dungeon itself will finish the quest, as timewalking dungeons give 30% quest progress by themselves.

Since this already exists, I will post my thoughts here.

I don’t know what Blizzard’s thought process was to come up with this, but it is very much inferior to the original iteration with regards to the WoW’s Anniversary buff.  I’ve already “messed up” somewhat for this week because when I saw the buff on my character, I simply thought “oh guess I don’t have to consume an item anymore” and went my way doing weeklies in Khaz Algar.   Until, that is, I looked at the reputation payout and saw it had only given a 10% bonus.  Looked at the buff… yep, said only 10% instead of the 20% I’d assumed.  /sad_trombone

Alright, I had to go the celebratory event to get the “other half” of what I had expected.  This quest can’t be that hard, right?  Well it’s definitely not hard (setting aside bugs), but – pardon the pun – wow it’s tedious.  And I’m expected to do it on every alt I was hoping to level during the event?  And it lasts only twelve hours real time, apparently?  What???

This is an unnecessary break with tradition and a bad game play experience.

To show management the engagement statistics on the regular quest, so they can prove how “popular” doing the anniversary quests is.
