So uhhhhh, the anniversary buff?

Why did they change this?

For as long as I remember, the XP buff “scales” with the number of years since launch. For example: for the 14th anniversary it was a +14% buff, for the 15th anniversary it was a +15% buff, and so on

Logging in just now I’m noticing it now says “increases by 10%”, which is obviously a downgrade from previous events…

Was expecting a nice/juicy +20% XP buff for the 20th anniversary, but feeling disappointed now :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I’m surprised there aren’t more mentions of this because this was unexpected and, for me, makes most of the event safe to skip entirely.

I and many others have used previous anniversary events to take the edge off certain grinds (eg Insane in the Membrane). Last year you got 19% anniversary + 10% DMF or Hallow’s End + 10% Human Diplomacy. +39% adds up for killing those pirates or goblins. Or handing in the chests for Ravenholdt. I don’t envy anyone doing it now with just 10% (or 20% with an event buff).

Like, who asked for this? Who benefits from this? Why?

TW XP got nerfed to hell at 71+ (it’s 50% more XP to do a TWW Normal dungeon) so I have zero incentive to do Classic TW. I could level a Dracthyr or Earthen but honestly I’d prefer to just wait for the next Remix or, failing that, the 12.0 prepatch event.

Do the Celebrate Good Fun repeatable quest. It adds a 10% buff on top of the other. So that makes 20%. That one lasts 12 hours tough, guess they want you to like… Participate!

Its annoying if you plan on leveling multiple alts, each one of them needs to go out there and do the quest. Its not hard, but time consuming waiting on each event.

im not a super big fan of having to do activities around the area for the additional 10%. it really should just be 20% at all times. to many alts

Nvm the events, kill the world bosses and queue for the TW dungeons, it ramps up real fast.

You should already have +25% from your warband mentor buff. Add another 10% and its like having the 35yr anniversary buff!

you only have the 25% mentor buff if you maxed out 5 characters

You should work for Blizzard with this kind of thinking. I mean what’s next? The +10% XP event buffs don’t stack with the Warband +25%? I should probably not give them ideas.

If Blizzard gives us something but then takes away something else to make up for it then have they really given us something?

Take the nerf to the TW badge weekly. It used to be 500 per toon per week. Now the 2nd and subsequent toon on your Warband only gets 200. You have the same kind of “defense”: “TW badges are warbound now so it’s OK”. No, no it isn’t. Why? Because TW badge rates are so low the weekly quests were the only viable way of farming them. As such, people were using alts anyway. So this is really just a nerf.

Another more relevant example: TW mob XP was silently nerfed 90% at 71+ such that a TWW dungeon will give you ~50% more XP (factoring in the queue bonuses for both). Can you use the same defense that we have +25% Warband XP now so it doesn’t mater? No, no you can’t.

There was also no fun little thing you get in the mail either :frowning:

They’re going to force people to partake in the event to make themselves look good at any cost.

lmao.

Ya, I skimmed the front-page before posting and didn’t really see any threads on this so I figured I would ask

Seems like a pretty big deal tbh, 20% —> down to 10% nerf, but with no explanation or coverage in the WoW-verse? That’s a pretty noticeable “womp womp womp” and waters down the event imo :weary::-1:

And also, like that other guy mentioned above, no “goodies bag” in the mail inbox with the standard “thank you for playing World of Warcraft” letter? No fun mini-fireworks to use? :slightly_frowning_face:

or an achievement for logging on

Ya, what gives?

Nice catch, I had forgot that we were given an achievement for logging into past ones

Theres a literal buff you can get every 12 hours to get an extra 10%

there’s your 20%, it also stacks with your warband bonus

This one I suspected would happen. Why? “Because TW badges are transferable now”. So if there was a bag for logging in you could just keep logging in to get free bags and transfer the badges.

I haven’t checked the WBs yet but Doomwalker used to give a weekly for 100 badges. I wonder if that’s a viable source of badges now? Not relevant to me but if you’re desperate.

They reduced it so it stacks with the 25% from warbands.

But that’s 10% across all your characters. Bliz gave us what we wanted in shared experience across our account, and now we’re paying for it.

Was it Rodney Dangerfield who joked about getting a rattle with the snake still attached?

Kinda similar.

OP,

The current dev’s are not like old-school Blizz devs, where THEY played and tested things. These new Blizz employees don’t really play/test the game. They just have meetings and launch buggy content for players to test. I think the answer is…they didn’t know.

Why are people so melodramatic.

Right now I have 20% warband buff, plus the base 10% wvent buff, and stacked the extra 10% fro. Participating in the anniversary events.

40% xp buff and people are complaining. Crazy.
