I wouldn’t exactly say it’s one of her defining character traits. Like I do like the idea that if you’re some super powerful creature who gets to choose an alternate form for yourself, you’re going to make yourself some form of conventionally hot. And I like the idea of being so damn powerful that you get away with wearing something that is by all accounts very inappropriate for what you’re doing (such as any kind of combat). That is a fun fantasy. I mean that’s exactly what I plan to do with my dracthyr. But it doesn’t mean you’re locked into that style for all time.
And again, maybe they’re creating the characters exactly how they want to. I feel like it’s a very ungenerous take to think they’re only doing it because of social pressure. Especially because there is nothing unsexy about Alexstrasza’s new outfit!
While i do like her old outfit, the new one does have a sorta sophisticated sexy appeal. Kinda like Xena and i was madly in love with her as a kid. Ahh Lucy Lawless.

If you want to go sexy go for it. It is clear though that they want some of the female character, particularly marque ones to go with a more “tastefully sexy” look.
I remember hearing her original model was designed by Alex Afrasiabi. If I am just having a fever dream and incorrect, i will happily amend what i said.
Because Blizzard’s sexually predatory male employees created an unsafe work environment and drove a woman to suicide, so it would be in really, really bad taste for them to be adding sexually objectified female models to the game right now.
Because Blizzard has chosen to make the game their visual presentation of change.
Because Blizzard is unable to grasp the difference between sexual objectification and sexy.
And, last but not least, because Blizzard cannot comprehend the difference between update and change!!!
If that’s the case i wouldn’t be surprised. They tend to hate the art as well as the creator instead of just hating the creator and appreciating the art.
As a female I’ll never understand why my fellow females feel sexy/beautiful running around (real life or in a game) half or nearly naked. But whatever floats their boat.
As far as in game Alexstrazsa’s new model looks gorgeous. You don’t need to be wearing next to nothing to be sexy imo. Jaina’s current armor set is much better than previous ones as well, especially that horrible tube top outfit she was wearing back in the day.
At the very least jainas new outfit makes sense when shes running around in battle, as opposed to running around in what was essentially a dress with little to no movement capability.
Wells you don’t have to be next to nude to be considered ‘sexy’, y’know! While I love the berserker aesthetic, such as it is, plenty of folks clad in full armah or robes that look drop-dead amazin’!
Y’rel looked fantastic in her full armah getup, for example. Now she may have gone a tiny bit off the deep end…let’s not worry about that for nows, she still looks really good!
For me, when I’m playin’ characters like Goldah here, I like going around with a harness an’ loincloth. Yeah it’s skimpy, but I feel really powerful when I’m charging right into someone with an axe my size. I’m neither strong or good with swinging much of anythings in reality so, again, all about that fantasy!
