So.. this is the end for Night Elves then..?

I mean, the Elune cinematic pretty much implies that’s what the Winter Queen intends to do by defeating Zovaal.

I think it’s weird that the thing from that controversy that seems to infuriate you the most is that they play CoD…

Word of advice: trolling me won’t make up for whatever you didn’t get to do because of Sunday school as a kid.

Hope the lore going forward is better than your trolling, they’re about the same level for now.

I have had an optimistic view of Blizzard for a long time. I think now I would call myself a fool, but if I am going to be honest with myself, I don’t think it’s that.

There was once a time when Blizzard was a good company. Innovative, passionate. Compare Blizzard to Activison and it’s not even close. The Blizzard of yore blows them out of the water every single time. It is some cruel joke that Blizzard merged with them, that Blizzard could face collapse in the wake of this lawsuit, but Activision is literally to big to fail (Not making light of the lawsuit, just lamenting the respect I ONCE had for the company).

I trusted them. As much as a consumer could trust a company, I think. I was never naïve about it, really, I knew they were flawed. But from every mistake I would say “They will learn from this and do better.”

Sometimes they did, sometimes they didn’t… Until one day, sometimes did became never did. And Sometimes Didn’t became always didn’t. And in truth, that day came much sooner for Nelf fans than anyone else, but I was in denial about it. It really was like an abusive relationship. Enough empty promises to keep you hopeful, small displays of affection to keep you content. But never real change, never anything of substance.

My interest with the game died a long time ago. I have been logging in just for the RP for years now. And now even that is becoming less and less. And after promise after promise, Implication after implication, my weak whispers of “Maybe… Hopefully” were finally heard.

Not by Blizzard through. That’ll never happen. I heard it with my own ears. Weak, pitiful. Over what? A Game? No, less than that. the dead husk of what used to be a franchise I loved, a company I respected and trusted.

I don’t think that trust can ever be repaired. It has been to much for to long, and ActiBlizz doesn’t care. Now I am finally being honest with myself. It is time to move on.

See you in Eorzea.

Not just shadowlands. Nelves got SO MUCH screentime for the past two expacs before slands. At least legion was decent but all bfa and slands stuff has been so bad all for what.

IT IS!

THEN IT IS MY BOY THEN IT IS!

“I could have saved people with whom I have a mother-like relationship, but I decided to turn their eternal souls into lunch for my sister instead” is Dracula levels of evil. Even if Elune hadn’t been an idiot and succeeded in her cosmic aim, this is some wackadoodle BS. At best it’s Utilitarian coldness for those she loves, and at worst (IMO more realistically) it’s straight up murderous nepotism.

Where is the proof she could have saved them? Elune’s not omnipotent.

She can’t even empower her champions without 99% of them exploding at the end.

In two expansions Night Elf armies and characters will be marching around as it literally none of this had happened.

Her quote is “I…sent forth a cascade of souls to sustain you…I have condemned my favored children.”

The whole tragic beat turns on “I made a mistake and condemned souls as a consequence.” That only works as a tragic beat if we assume she thought she was making a choice about whether to turn wisps into soul juice for mama winter (or not). Whether she had power or not, the intent is there, and that intent is evil.

If I may be so bold as to suggest to the Elves a new deity to worship?
She is rather young and inexperienced in the Realm of God’s, but she has proven effective.

Her name:
“Sylvanas Windrunner”

I mean, throughout Shadowlands, we have been using souls to empower our armor and weapons, then often using those Armor and weapons to kill more souls. So, if that is evil, then Shadowlands have villainized the entire player base.

It would be cool if the hatred the Winter Queen has for her sister was because she denies the Shadowlands of souls. If Elune was an Eternal One who abandoned the Death Pantheon and became the patron of Life, and saved Night Elves from crossing over to be consumed. Maybe even working with the Titans to create the Emerald Dream, where she can revive Wild Gods without sending them Shadowlands?

well, we don’t know what Blizzard has in store for the Night Elves…

The greater question for you is do you want a future for Night Elves or vengeance against Sylvanas…

Can’t have your cake and eat it, too.

I mean, yeah. That has seemed gross / weird. At best we’re slurping up memories and identities, at worst we’re devouring life essence. It’s a bit unclear to me.

But the PCs have been murderhobos since time immemorial. Sociopathic murder is just … a thing for us. Our actions lack a kind of in-game reality almost because the mechanics are oriented around mass PC murder. Hell, last expansion we were doing the literal Azeroth blood mining the diamond king continually got so vexed at NPCs for doing.

When it’s the in-narrative actions of a theoretically good-aligned goddess towards her children, though, it hits different.

Those are not mutually exclusive

I mean, why? We are all aligned with covenants, we all agreed to stop the Jailer and return control to these other entities who use Anima to run machines, forge weapons, revive Wild Gods… Revendreth straight up drinks it like wine.

Why is it suddenly bad when Elune does it in an attempt to help what is arguably the least problematic realm in the Shadowlands?

Based on discussion in another thread, I think I just misunderstood how destructive draining anima is to souls. I thought it would effectively erase the identity, but this does not seem to be the case. That puts Elune in a better light than I’d thought

Why are these mutually exclusive? Why does killing Sylvanas destroy the Night Elf renewal?

I suppose it could finish burning her out and leave nothing left to use the Night Warrior power for those who need it.
