So... That new Store Mount

It looks bad to people who can’t fathom that businesses like to make money, and that they don’t have to buy stuff if they don’t want to.

Except as a subscription deal mount, you can basically change your payment plan to 6 month recurring, which saves a few bucks, and pick up the mount for free.

you can buy the mount with gold do people not know that?

I am really liking this new patch. The story is cool and theres a lot of stuff I am excited to grind out. Whats upsetting about a new store mount is that they took a unique mount and took it out of the game to sell it for extra. Other rewards we can earn like the bloat rays have like 4 recolors but this unique dragon is being sold for extra money. Its making the game lesser (albeit by one mounts worth) for the sake of an extra couple bucks

Nope, so most will judge you as someone who didn’t earn that mount

Its not the fact that anyone is being forced to buy a mount. of course no one needs to buy it. But what happens when they say “New raid coming out! only 15 extra dollars and you get full access AND heres a battle pet! Weeeee!!!”

its a silly notion now but by being complacent to micro transactions like this now leaves the door ajar for much worse ideas to take root.

Well making 300k gold isnt hard so

Blizz: Releases patch with dozens of in game earnable mounts and then 1 store mount.

Players: What the hell? Store mount? Deeeeeeeeeeesparate.

How many of those dozens of mounts are recolors. The mount store shouldnt exist. Period

Kinda dumb that buying 6 months game time doesn’t get you the mount when a 6 month sub does. But really when it all comes down to it, there’s only one thing that matters about this mount:

“Mount not available in World of Warcraft® Classic.”

Just about everything in Nazjatar and Mechagon is a new model. Who cares if some of them are color variations of a NEW model. Talk about whiney.

Like 3 are recolors of old mounts, lol its not warlords of pigs anymore

What’s the problem? Clearly there’s a market for it or they wouldn’t keep releasing them. Would a prefer a monthly sub with a small cash shop where luxury mounts are added maybe twice a year, or a free-to-play game with a large cash shop and lootboxes? There ARE players who like having the option of purchasing some things with cash so the store isn’t going away, if you want a WoW option without it then in august Classic will be waiting for you.

Personally though I’d like them to go towards crossover stuff with the shop mounts for a while. Things I’d like to see which don’t make much sense as being obtainable in-game include:

  1. Zergling
  2. Mutalisk
  3. Ultralisk
  4. Gnomish version of the terran Siege Tank
  5. Legion version of the terran Hellion (call it the ‘Felion’)
  6. Goblin version of the terran Vulture bike
  7. Rideable demon of some kind from Diablo
  8. Mounts themed after Diablo classes or locations
  9. Something for Overwatch? Never had any interest so I don’t know anything about it

There’s plenty of opportunities for mounts that crossover with other Blizz franchises which could sell better than what they’ve been putting out, and which I think fewer people would complain about.

you guys are perfectly entitled to your opinion and Im entitled to mine.

What Ive been trying to say is that if you look at the history of video games at a macro level you see companies taking small steps to make more money at the expense of the customer experience. This is a small thing, but its a step closer to Blizzard going ahead and turning WoW into a chopped up mess full of paid loot boxes, micro transactions and parts of the game sold separately. Just keep an eye out, its a slippery slope.

ok. but putting a store mount in along side other content is not them making money at the expense of customer experience.

the argument that “every second spent on store mounts is a second not spent on in-game development” is, frankly, dumb. different developers do different things.

considering that the first store mount - the sparkle pony - was, what, 10 years ago? and they still haven’t gone the route of loot boxes, I’m not sure how slippery that slope is.

I hate loot boxes, and I’m gone if they introduce them. but I don’t think store mounts are a harbinger of that.

That literally didn’t answer the question I posed.

That is exactly what it is and it’s one of the major complaints CoD has had.

Here’s the more important question: Would you bother to do the EP achievements for a yellow stingray, when you can just get a reputation based red one?
