After all these threads I’m really confused about this whole gem thing, so i have a simple question:
Will I die slower in arenas if i replace my vers gems with a different stat?
Probably not. My guess is vers gems will still give you vers (duh), but the ilvl scaling with gems will put you in a disadvantage regardless of what you socket. If you’ve already socketed a piece, you probably want that gem to be Vers.
Just remove the gems.
if you take the gems out, it doesnt matter. the sockets are IN the gear and buff the ilvl. it’s the actual socket, not the gem in the socket. So it’s still advantageous to use verse gems if the piece has a socket. But it’s weaker than not having a socket

But this legit is incorrect. Its not the socket. Its any gem. Stop saying sockets Inc ilvl. They don’t. I can striaght up show u the ilvl between no gem. And with a gem. Without gems im exactly where I should be. With gems im at 4 ilvls higher

Venruki has a video showing the difference. Going from no gems to full gems, fireball would hit him 48 damage more. I think he had 41% vers with full gems. I have like 55% in Arena so I’m pretty sure I’m still better off with full gems as long as I’m fully amped out.
The gems this late in the expac shouldn’t be giving you over half an iLvL in PvP per gem
You shouldnt have your damage amped by 266% or w/e if you’re naked

They could fix their game by just not putting systems on top of systems that are on shaky foundations in the first place.
If you gem anything but Versa you’re going to take even more damage since your ilvl skyrockets and scaling will try to “match-make” your gear to enemies with less iLvL making them do more damage to you.
If you gem versa it will help negate the squish
If you take out gems your ilvl drops
The only benefit to gems is to help combat the squish ironically lmao

The difference is like 1000 damage, sure it’s dumb that it exists, but really don’t over complicate it for rating below 3000.

Yeah, it sucks that this is the case, all the visions for nothing. But gems and whatever help in PvE.
All I’m saying is, it’s been like this for the past 8 months? And it’s “worked.”
If you are fully socketed/gem, keep on the grind and just don’t worry about it, if you aren’t fully socketed/gem. Enjoy the vacation from Visions.

Vers gems seem like a waste from the videos I’ve watched. It feels like Haste would be more useful at this point.

Yay!! no more stupid vision runs to get sockets
latest video by rextroy states you can remove gems with void storage. It will not increase your pvp ilvl. You can also socket the gems before arena match for an increase in damage and damage reduction (With vers gems)

I tested in duels not Arena but pvp stating was still active so it should be the same. I stack all vers amps and 1 proc amp. I took more damage with my sockets and did less damage

Ironically Versa gems are the worst gems. They are pointless because…
The reason is Versa is flat % and there is no synergy with talents or mechanics. So if you gem Versa the flat % is just partially negating the nerf and it’s still a nerf.
Which means if you do gem you shouldn’t use Versa and should use a stat that actually benefits a build. Haste for cast time GCD etc. Mastery for damage attack power etc…
At least Haste/Mastery/Crit will synergize with talents to a point where you can positively negate the socket nerf.
Fortunately I have a build using all Mastery gems and 93% Mastery amps however Versa is just a straight up loss no matter what. It’s better to use no gems than Versa. They have no value.
That is why Venruki took MORE damage with all Versa gems. They can’t even negate the nerf so there is no reason to put them in. Unless you want to do it in the starting room like in Rextroy’s new vid 
Yeah but that’s when you’re trying with spells that do 10k damage. But now do it with Chaos Bolt lol.
