This is what I expect as well if High Elves ever happen.
I’m not sure I would change my main here to a High Elf though. Despite the flimsy lore, and less than stellar origin, I like the Void Elves, their aesthetics, and racials. I also think they might have some interesting potential storywise in the future.
At the same time, while I like Void Elves, they don’t scratch the Quel’Dorei itch. I’d almost certainly race change my Void Elf Hunter and Human Paladin to a High Elf. I’m on the fence about race changing my Priest but my Monk would stay as a Void Elf.
So there I stand. Some of my Void Elves would race change to High Elf, some wouldn’t and some remain undecided. Personally I like having options, I like elves, and having more types of elves is a good thing IMO.
They are merely NPCs, Airc. There are many Races in WoW who have different affiliations, unplayable affiliations, primarily for the use of NPCs. They are just that, non-playable organisations of a playable race. (Scarlet Crusade, Raventusk etc…)
And, yes, I noticed. I have always played Alliance as well as Horde, I started as Alliance. Yet since Wrath I main Horde.
My belief in my own Quel’Thalassian Heritage comes from the games writings, and was never something I questioned.
My comment was not meant to be inflammatory, yet your reaction is angry, defensive. I am sorry that any opinion other than yours elicits such annoyance in you. I wont reply again, because I don’t wish to derail the OP’s desire for this to be a yes/ no thread regarding his question.
Shorel’aran.

I’m sorry you feel so offended at someone calling into question your limited understanding of High Elves vs Blood Elves.

Bah, you made me reply… Truly, I wasn’t offended at all.
Larger group than the Void Elves, and probably going on a positive population growth, which the Void Elves currently are not doing.

I’d MAKE a high elf character (just like I made a void elf character once I unlocked them), but my blood elves are staying blood elves even if the option became available. I’m an RP nerd first and foremost and this character is Sin’dorei.

I’d never faction change.

No, because that would mean leaving the Horde, and that won’t happen. Anyhow I love the looks of the Blood Elf. Any changes would be strictly cosmetic.

Not this blood elf. Only thing that might make me race change would be a San’layn. They would be horde any way so it would be a win/win. Other than that Blood Elf for life!
The people who would transfer over something like this already did so for Void Elves.
In general, I’d wager the vast majority of Blood Elf mains wouldn’t transfer even if they DID want High Elves though. They’ve been playing Horde for years and years. All the locations and people they know are Horde. Leaving that for something that looks very slightly different wouldn’t even come close to being worth it.

I agree with you but there have been multiple people using the whole “playable Alliance High Elves would cause a mass exodus of people playing and main Blood Elves on the Horde, as a justification to keep the race (faction if your being honest) from being made playable” So I point blank felt the need to straight up and ask those whom this would apply to. And if the straw poll I set up and the answers in this thread would indicate this idea is flat out stupid and irrelevant.
I would not play a high elf if Blizzard paid me to do so. Of course, I don’t play blood elves either. I have a night elf - because my Alliance main is a demon hunter - and I have a void elf.
I wouldn’t have the night elf if demon hunters could be any other race. I’d keep the void elf, though. They’re cool.

I wish we had the choice to change the Belf eyes to those big Barbie style blue eyes the Belf lady in the archaeology shoppe in New Dalaran has. So sexy.
I race changed from blood elf to night elf because I gave up on unlocking zandalari troll and decided kul tiran human would be worth more my time. If high elf is available on the alliance (regardless of whether or not you think blood elf is high elf, blood elf is not in the alliance so it is useless to me) and can be demon hunter, then I might consider it.
how do you “race” change from a blood elf to high elf? theyre the same thing

Uh, but it says you’re a Blood Elf. And it says you’re Horde. Are you seeking professional help to solve your self identity crisis?

are high elves biologically or physiologically different from blood elves? now lets also pretend 9/10 of all living “high” elves arent now BLOOD ELVES
the answer is no. so how do you “race” change???

That’s not what makes a race. Race is a social construct.
And during the beginning of the Burning Crusade, before the High Elves began to make a comeback, Blizzard stated “In relation to the playable races, high elves have a considerably smaller population than even the Gnomeregan Exiles. High elves are a rare sight even in Alliance lands, and are considered a fallen, all but extinct race.”
So, unless you’re trying to claim that Blood Elves are a “fallen, all but extinct race”, then you should rethink what you’re trying to say.

WIth the 50 character max limit. I would just create a new one.
I would first want to know the racials but I would not race change since I am no where near the character limit.
