Blood Elves have redder skin and hair, generally, than their High Elven counterparts. This is due to the fel corruption, the same thing that turned Blood Elven eyes green, as opposed to the blue of the High Elves.

Now, during the Burning Crusade expansion, Blizzard had a section on High Elves, Blood Elves, and Night Elves. In the High Elf section they wrote this: “Like blood elves, high elves can use arcane magic, but most do not because most high elves are not spellcasters. Whether or not they are spellcasters, all high elves are suffering acute pangs of withdrawal in the absence of the Sunwell’s energies. A few high elves here and there have realized the cause of their distress; others have not. A crucial difference between high elves and blood elves is that no high elves have decided to feed their hunger for arcane magic by draining that magic from alternative sources (now that the Sunwell is useless)”

Now, tell me: If they were “the same thing”, why would Blizzard go to all that trouble into differentiating the difference between the two groups? Even so far as to having two separate pages about each race? If they were the same thing, wouldn’t one page be enough, covering them all?

That’s because they are not the same thing, and never have been.

Thing is, there is evidence that they are different races ALL OVER THE PLACE, but like some anti-vaxxer, you guys deny anything that goes against your one potential piece of flimsy evidence.

this is untrue. my character is proof of that

so what am i different species then green eyes elves because i have golden eyes? :joy::joy::joy:

Oh, you’re finally beginning to understand the difference between “species” and “race”, are you? Or do you still think they’re the same thing for some dumb reason?

But: no comment about your lack of understanding of the word “generally”.

Fearing that the befouled well would obliterate his dwindling race, Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider gathered a group of Quel’Thalas’s defenders and destroyed the fount to avert catastrophe. Although the high elves were spared from continued exposure to the Sunwell’s dark energies, in the fount’s absence they suffered terribly from withdrawal. As a result, Kael’thas desperately searched for a means to help his people—whom he had renamed the blood elves—and thus he set out for the shattered world of Outland. There he allied with the renegade demon Illidan Stormrage in the hopes of finding a cure for the blood elves’ crippling withdrawal.

Blood Elves are High Elves that renamed themselves by title.

Unless you think Blizzard is lying?

I think you are being willfully ignorant of the fact that the name Sin’dorei (Blood Elf) only applies to the faction of Elves that were the survivors in Silvermoon City and is not applicable to the Quel’dorei (High Elves) whom were members of the Kingdom’s of Dalaran, of Lorderon, of Stormwind, of the Hinterlands, & those formerly of Theramore. Nor those who follow Alleria Windrunner through the Dark Portal.

I’d just like to point out that elves didn’t have glowing eyes in WC2.

BE to HE? no
VE to HE? Yes.

VE looks stupid.
Blizzard uses the worst shade of blue ever.

You really have to add in the number of Void Elves that will switch to High Elves too, if you want to truly see how much impact it will have.

There is people who spent money to change their Draenei to a LF Draenei just to have yellow eyes, white skin and different looking horns. But from a far its hard to tell the difference between the two. So I am sure people would just switch elf race just for blue color eyes.

Not really as that still has no impact on the particular question I asked as Void Elves race changing to High Elves has zero impact on players leaving the Horde to play Alliance and through off the supposed faction balance. It is the impact of adding playable Alliance High Elves would have if any I am specifically asking people who main Blood Elves or primarily play Blood Elves if the fallacy is truthful that they would faction swap in droves and thereby through off faction balance to the Alliance.

I’d race change one character, but it isn’t a blood elf. However, it does depend on the classes that will be available to the High Elves and how it makes me feel. As someone that wants High Elves to be an Allied race for the Alliance, I know I’d make at least a decent few.

I don’t think that I would be able to faction change to a High Elf because I’m a demon hunter. You can’t change your class can you?

But I’d be High Elf if I could. At least that would make things less complicated for my love and I.

enough with the more elf races in game already!

Once we have High Elves and San’layn there won’t be any elves left to ask for so then the calls for them will cease

Nope. Because if I wanted to play a belf with color contacts I’d roll a gold eyed belf.

There is no reason the forum wouldn’t be a representative sample for this, the only bias I can see is I think the forum population would be more likely to pay for a transfer than the general population.
