The problem is the queue system drives players to join sync-queue communities. If you don’t then you end up in match after match being fed to them.
I have nothing against sync-queue communities, I’ve met a lot of friends in them. I don’t think they’re fair but Blizzard doesn’t appear to be breaking them any time soon.
My issue with them is I’ve seen too many instances where certain players use them to bully other players, even on their own teams. I won’t be a part of it. Some of the most trollish players end up inside communities and turn a good thing bad.
(Besides having players who circumvent restrictions to roflstomp the other team,) The problem is that people stop PvPing. (Maybe they even stop WoWing.) Blizzard has stated that full premades drive other players away from PvP. That’s one of the main reasons why they don’t want premade raids in random bgs.
If most pugs end up joining sync queues because they were driven there by the system, these premade communities would be bursting at the seams. There would be more premades than pugs in random bgs.
They are. That’s why they have to keep culling their main community and making multiple numbered ones. SAS is always cleaning out to make room and there’s always hundreds online — hundreds. But only a few dozen are queuing at any time, you still have to be in the mood to run epics.
In all the communities there’s generally a core number of players who are grouping and syncing while the rest solo-sync. They kind of fly under the radar and don’t reveal themselves to be part of the main crew but still sync up.
Whenever I’m in a community I’m usually a solo-sync. Except in SAS where I like the main crew and will group up. I’m not in any communities right now, I’m in one of my burned out phases.
“Interesting… you had a dream about judging people, condemning them as an ‘Executioner’ would - and the power of that position clearly excited you. Mhmm-mhmm. And was this dream accompanied by any frothing at the mouth, perhaps? Any sudden urges to dye your hair purple or change your name to ‘Karen’?”
I’ve never quite understood this rhetoric… a 2400+ Solo Shuffle player /2v2 / 3v3 ranked player could join multiple BGs, face a premade in every one and lose every one. Come to the forums and state how Premades are ruining BGs and are told “git gud”.
I think it just shows that characters disposition immensely.
This is it, really. Again, I think the only way to address this is with cross faction BGs which should flatten this out a bit but not entirely. Cross faction BGs should lead to more premade versus premade matches.
I agree with the overall sentiment, but if Dragonflight has shown us anything it is that the skill and knowledge gap is having a bigger impact in lopsided BGs than gear gaps.
Take a look at what is happening now. A strong majority of the people in the BGs are in at least full honor gear but stomps still happen far more frequently than close games.
I’m not sure about that. I think people are gearing up their toons this week, so after they attain full honor gear on one toon, they swap to their next toon.
But, I don’t know if it’s more/less/same as any other week.
Not really a “benefit”. Just a higher chance of landing in the same match with the main raid and getting a daily win. But as a solo-queue it also means the highest chance of being a solo backfill vs an honor farming premade.
Why solo-queue at all then? So I can do other stuff without messing up the sync-queued players. Nothing I do will pause their queue. I can choose not to take the pop and continue with whatever I’m doing. I don’t need a sync-queue to do epics, but I’ll take a free win if I land in one.
The only time I group-sync is if I like whoever is leading and there’s no annoying players I can’t mute. That’s a tall order sometimes.
You can still sit, you can still jumpscare lone defenders, you can rotate and peel easily, and you can make very sudden pushes with other stealthies if the enemy team isn’t paying attention.
You can be anywhere, you just can’t be everywhere.
