Never. People have moved on. Whether it’s getting married, having families, or the general state of the game being bad. Flying isn’t a savior.
To be honest the attitide of “this is all blizzards fault for making rares rare again!!” Makes me more skeptical.
For ever 1 person who wanted rares to stay instant, there was another wanting the rares with god rewards and long spawm times. I like the rares actually being rare again, i hated legion where hou threw a rock and it hit a rare mob.
That being said, these addons are incredibly helpful for those of us who dont have tbe rare schedule memorized. I am pretty sure spam messaging is against ToS, but im willing to bet if the appeal processed was used a gm would lift the silence.
Its kind of a double edged sword with how their tos works. I mean, make an exception for addons? Suddenly we have gold spammers or other annoying chatters spamming chat because they are using an addon.
Its a tough situation.
Your right and I agree with you, antagonizing players who enjoy flight won’t keep them playing and we all know a continuing shrinking player base won’t make the game any healthier.
It’s a question of how quickly do you want to kill the game, faster will end the misery of watching a favorite game you loved die. Peeving off remaining customers will just make that end happen faster; know what I mean.
If people are getting silenced it mean a fair amount of people are reporting them. It has nothing to do with Blizzard even though they made the system. Blame your fellow gamers on whatever server you play on.
the rare share addon should have a group chat in communities by server and zone and spam it there

Again the addon is SPAM. Between the time the rare is announced and then dies, NOBODY could get to said rare. So at this point ALL Players who have it should just turn the auto announce feature off.
If players are reporting it and your being silenced they are telling you something, your peeving them off with the Addon. Use your heads for something other than a hat rack and turn the damn announce feature off.
It serves no purpose NOW when the rare is dead a second later; seriously!
That is patently untrue. I have the rare share addon and on my dead server this morning, I flagged five different rares that were announced to chat, and when I made another loop through the zone an hour later, they were all still up.
If you don’t have flying, maybe you couldn’t get there before a non-sought-after rare was dead from halfway across the zone. But otherwise, the zones aren’t that big, and if you’re not playing on a mega server, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Your post has one flaw, your on a dead server. But on healthy populated servers this isn’t the case and as such the ADDON is SPAM on servers with healthy populations because the rare gets announced and then 1 second later it’s announced as dead.
This is the difference though. For some servers, at some times of the day the rare will die before people can get to them for reasons.
all of them take more than one second to die - blizzard has made them into damage spounges. The addons don’t pick up the rare until the person using it gets in range.
Sure. But then you can’t say NOBODY could EVER POSSIBLY get to the rare, because people can, and do. I’ve gotten to them on Stormrage from halfway across the zone QUITE frequently. And we are one of the aforementioned mega servers.
I don’t know if this is true for all of them, but for the one I use (which I believe to be the most popular of the bunch), it’s got nothing to do with range. You actually have to TARGET them.

Except I have never seen this. Not even on high pop servers. So you’re basing your upset off of what you assume and not what actually happens.
At most, I have seen it said three times by different people spread out. I have never once seen a screen of spam from ten people.

I have seen it 4 times for a spawn in various stages and I have people on ignore already for that, so I have no idea how many times it really can occur.
Well, let’s be fair. Four is not ten. And four different people aren’t spam.
I’m sorry that you don’t want to know when rares are up to run for them, or when they die so you don’t have to waste your time trying to get there anymore. Others do find that very helpful, though.
And thank you for ignoring those people and not reporting them. That’s a good use of the ignore function and why we have it. 
(And just in case it somehow came across differently, none of that was meant as sarcasm or any negative manner.

The addon actually has a design to not alert others if someone else has recently pinged it with the addon
But whatever. If Blizzard doesnt want me announcing rares ill just kill it by myself. Great way to get people not to work together Blizzard

It would also allow you to plan when to come back to the rare spot, like when Rustfeather dies you know to come back in 30 minutes and camp for the next spawn.
As for the people being banned for this, I just think it is grieving players, if enough report they get auto silenced, GM’s don’t have a say in that part, but they can remove it if warranted.
I had a discussion with someone, more like an argument, about my addon announcing the rare, the co-ords, if it was engaged and how much health, and than when it died and I had about 10 other players on my side saying it was a good thing since, like you said, you can plan if you want to go there if it is not too far or on low health, and than plan when to come back.
But this guy was just arguing about the entire thing saying it was pointless to tell us how much health it had, like when it is on 10% health because it made no difference, no one could get to it on time and how it was better to say nothing. They just could not understand the importance of knowing if something was just killed in case you needed it so you can plan for it soon.
And if he and enough people reported me, I would be silenced, but after that I realised it would be better to not have it running, there is no point arguing with people and getting to the point that I will be silenced because a few were upset that I was trying to help a lot.

Y’all do know that you can just manually type in a chat channel, right? You don’t need an add-on to do it for you…
If I see a rare up that hasn’t been announced, I just take 5 seconds to type “name @ (x, y)”…then “engaged” when it’s engaged, and “dead” when it’s dead.
Takes only a few seconds to do. We really have people killing rares solo just because they don’t want to use the add-on to announce it for them?
