Not that I agree with people reporting them, i can understand why they’re being reported.
This seems like another case of, “this is why we can’t have nice things”. Yes, it’s spam and automated, but it’s still a nice gesture from community members to inform others of the rare sighting.

Ok this is the last time I am going to say this. People are not being reported for using an add-on. People are being reported for using an add-on when it automatically spams general chat with multiple people using it. If one user is using it I doubt anyone cares. If multiple people are using it then it become spam.
Oh right, and yet, people have every right to spam these channels with unrelevant discussions, such as Thunderfury or Anal, and we’re not going to report them for that, no no, instead, it isn’t hard to leave the chat when these topics come into hand, but it is hard to leave the chat when there is an addon being used and we’re all going to call it spam.
I can go on, but there is no need for a strawman argument, you make that yourself by being negative towards people and arguing against the popular vote and trying to keep telling us that everything is OK and nothing needs to change, while at the same time trying to give excuses to work around whatever anyone brings up to try and keep it exactly how YOU like it.
No they do not have the right to do that. That is reportable and people do get silenced for it. This is just a constant stream of fallacies.
That is not a strawman. It is an actual argument that multiple people with the add-on spamming the same message is actually spam. Also since the original complaint is that Blizzard is silencing them, then what needs to happen is with the add-on that is causing the violation.
I dont use the add ons for call outs personally but i like them. they call out the location and health percentage. This is a huge help in figuring out if i have enough time to make it there before it goes down. I dont need the location because i have an add on that shows me where they are… but not everyone does. I understand that it can get annoying at times when there are several call outs for the same rare… however that really doesnt happen that often. I dont normally see more than 2-3 call outs and its a mixture of add ons and people calling them out

But there is no violation on each individual person, some people are just upset that they are seeing similar or same messages across the board and are reporting whoever they feel like.
One person cannot spam, it’s actually impossible, unless they are posting the same thing twice a minute every minute, and that is something that just cannot happen with announcing rares, it’s impossible.
For one the addons only announce the first time seen and the kill if it us enabled, secondly most rares are dead before you get a chance to truly spam that they are there, and this is something that players like you and Caraz need to understand.
By constantly telling us that the addons are spamming, and that some servers are low population so all you see is rare announcements, but the fact is fact, no one can type more than twice a minute, the rares are dead fast enough that you cannot get enough of the same announcement to go off to classify it as spam and if someone is announcing multiple rares at separate times over the course of each minute than that is also akin to posting different messages and still not spam.
Like if I was to post “Rust is up” and two minutes later announce “Arachnoid is up” than 2 minutes later announce “Enforcer is up”, that is 3 separate occurrences and 3 separate announcements for 3 separate events, not spam.
We should really be focusing on those who constantly announce selling raid and M+ runs as they are the exact same message by the same people and therefore spam, the rare announcements can only really be spam if it is about the same rare over and over, and that never happens enough to warrant a ban.
Yes there is. When the same thing is being repeated it becomes spam. Since the entire thing is that people are being silenced then Blizzard is finding that they did violated the chat rules.

The OP specifically says it is a silence and not the squelch which means Blizzard reviewed the squelch and imposed a silence.

Hey Blizzard and moderators if you read this. Remove block from the game because obviously reporting does the work better right? I don’t need to block someone when i can just false report them right? This is what you’re promoting

So by that notion anyone who is selling an EP raid run is spamming since someone else has already offered to sell an EP raid run, you know, since it is for the exact same raid at the exact same level of difficulty it is therefore the exact same message by more than one person.
The people that think these addons are bad and then complains or reports people for using them when they are just trying to be helpful to all the other players are exactly the reason this game has gone to you know where. These overly self-entitled, world revolves around them players get upset over something so trivial. And they are what makes it such a hostile environment for everyone else that is just trying to enjoy themselves and have some fun.
They are the people that never help out that new person trying desperately to finish that one quest or kill that rare. They are the ones that will swoop in and kill a rare that some poor hunter has been camping for days in order to tame it. They are the ones that hang out in places like Hellfire pennisula ganking lowbies just to get their jollies off. They are the ones that wait until that IE is just about finished and then kick you for no good reason. I could go on and on but I think the point is made here.
These kinds of people are no good for this game and will say that everyone else is ruining their game when in reality it is this small portion of the population that is in fact, ruining the game for the majority of the populace. Unfortunatley, they live in an alternate reality where trying to reason with any of them is a futile effort so there is no reason to even attempt it. As long as Blizzard allows thing like this to go on they ultimately are the ones responsible for how the game has declined today. They have allowed the MMO to basically be removed from MMORPG.
On the topic of these addons specifically, I see somethign in chat about a rare maybe every few minutes or so. You gotta have something really wrong upstairs to call that spam and let it bother you enough to report people for it, like time to get professional help wrong.
Edit: If you are one of those people then go ahead and complain about my post, I’m not going to give you people that ruin our game the satisfaction of even reading your response because frankly I don’t care how you feel.
No, there really isn’t. The key words you quoted are “on each individual person”. If 3 people all say the same thing at approximately the same time, none of the 3 are spamming. If 1 person says it 3 times in the same amount of time, then it might be. By your logic if there are 3 different discussions on the same topic going on, independent of each other, and the same remark is made at about the same time, it’s spam even though the discussions are totally separate from one another and involve completely different people.
