If you don’t like seeing things in a certain channel, leave it. Heck, most of the time it is just nonsense talking or actual spam.

How will that make you immune to getting silenced?
The addon is doing the same thing I can do: typing.
2-3 people can be typing at the same time and hit their enter key within seconds of each other, do they get punished?
This is overkill and flat-out abuse.
Or, maybe, just, maybe…people can do what I do any manually type it out to be both helpful and courteous?
They could, but you and I both know they’re not going to.
This was an addon that was helping the community, and people have decided to punish others for it. Democracy at work, I guess.
I have already mentioned this. If I do it and it is not called out it is not spam. The reason why people are being reported is because the add-on from multiple people is automatically spamming rares info into general.
So then DBM should use general as well. This way people doing world boss without the mod can be informed of fight details? I mean that is basically what you logic boils down to. If they want this information, DOWNLOAD THE addon.
The addon makes it a problem of scale. If one guy pees in the pool, nobody notices, and the chemicals take care of it. It’s still gross, but whatever. If several hundred people pee in the pool, you have a toilet.
The addon is not courteous enough to check if something has already been reported. It could be, if the addon developer wanted to be, but right now the common ones aren’t.
Players are generally more courteous about it. They aren’t going to waste their time typing it if it’s already been posted.
Apples to oranges. World boss information is only useful to the people in the immediate area. Calling out rares is useful to everyone in the zone, hence why it uses the zonewide chat.
The first few days everyone was calling them out before the add-on. Even last night in Nazjatar people were calling them out. This add-on seems to be a Mechagon thing which is a problem because of how small the zone is and how many rares are packed together (and how fast they spawn and how a bunch of them already have zone wide call outs).
People are being reported for using local chat, not one individual spamming over and over within moments.
It’s multiple people announcing the same info, once each.
How is that spam on the individual?
If there are multiple people chatting about a topic in local, is that spam and reportable?
No it is exactly the same. In both cases the addon would be offering “helpful” information. I mean you could just ignore the user or leave general after all right?
I just explained why they’re different. If you can’t understand how, I’m not sure how else I can frame it for you. I suspect you’re not interested though, and would rather force your “argument”.
The only time when DBM calls out is in /say and is by the player, otherwise everything is usually kept for seeing to your screen only. There is a huge difference there.
ToS
2.bots… Automation of any…
Those addons aren’t needed. People will call out rares and heaven forbid actually be able to chat on general if those addons were banned.
Mechagon is small enough if you have flying or the jet pack you will be able to pick up most rares just by flying around yourself, no other announcements even needed.
Well, in that case, might of well start reporting people using DBM, Little/BigWigs. They also do automated messages.
30-60 minutes. Just imagine coming home from work after a long day, you might spend an hour playing the game. From that perspective I understand WHY it’s very helpful for people to know when a rare is up. I personally prefer the addon we had back in TI. It was so much better because it didn’t(afaik) spam the chat.
Because you are using an automated add-on that is doing it. This is not rocket science. You are not going to get reported for manually typing it when nobody else has announced it. You are deeply engaged in a logical fallacy of false equivalency. A person announcing something that has not been announced is not spam. Even (and that is a big if to this happening) you get reported you are not going to get mass reported. Also Blizzard is not going to silence you for it. Now repeatedly announcing rare information that multiple other people are also announcing via an automated add-on? I hope you understand the diffrence.
Never saw an addon used on timeless isle on my server. And there isn’t just one rare so your 30-60 is pretty meaningless unless you just want one specific one and if you do just camp it.
I run 4-5 characters through that Mechagon content almost every day and I can usually do them in less than an hour total - even on the days like today you have to kill 3 rares.
And how do you exactly know if someone is manually typing it or is using an addon?
You see, the last time I checked, using an addon that automates a message in any channel wasn’t against the ToS, and considering that you can only post in general twice every minute, unless you’re going to post it 10 times within 5 minutes yourself, that isn’t spam.
