I can see the information fine right now because I don’t have a bunch of morons on my server that report people for useful information, maybe it’s an Australian thing.

To be fair, it is a lot of spam sometimes. Not sure why people can’t just be like, Yo rust is up.
“X Mob spotted 100%”.
“X Mob pulled”
“X Mob 50%”
“X Mob died”
“Y Mob spotted 100%”.
“Y Mob pulled”
“Y Mob 50%”
“Y Mob died”
But you know this addon exists and by calling out the rare you are drawing the users to that rare.
You actions directly or indirectly caused more chat “spam”.
If you just bursted it down solo the general chat would be nice and empty.

You should never be posting automated addon messages in a zone wide official channel. It’s that simple tbh.

It is pointless trying to explain to these people because on their server when they play there might not even be a problem. It really depends on how many people on your server are using what addons and that gets compounded by the time of day you are playing.

Again do you think it is “reporting useful information” or is it “multiple people spamming rare location and then again when they die”? If it was a single call out I doubt we would be having this conversation.
At the end of the day if people are getting silenced then Blizzard agrees they were spamming.

Why do you keep saying this as though servers matter any more?
I could get pulled from a low pop shard to a high one. Is someone with the addon supposed to do a /who every five minutes to make sure it’s not too busy to announce rares?

Nobody is being inconvenienced, you can still use chat fine, it’s exactly the same as NPC dialogue or loot being picked up, just pay attention to things you care about and ignore things you don’t.
The only people being inconvenienced are people that won’t know rares are up because entitled spergs report people that share the info.

Well like I said I personally don’t care if 10 people are using it and spamming because I love rare killing, but I sure can see how other people doing other things there find it annoying (which is why I take the 5 seconds out of my busy life to manually type it out if no one has called it instead of using an addon). Like I said it is like a few people lack basic empathy and yet are talking about how terrible other people are…
I think you probably would be better off reading the CoC instead of calling a spade a spade which is a ridiculous expression in this situation anyway since you completely fail to understand the other side so there is only spades in your mind instead of the different shades of grey involved.

Did you seriously ask that and expect me to give you an answer that didn’t imply you are a troll? First of the ignore list is 50 names and then you have to clear it to add more. So this is a no go solution because it would require them to frequently play “clear the ignore list” instead of playing the game. Turning off general is a bad idea because it is the primary communication channel for the zone.
Look, I am not against the mod. It just needs to use it’s own private channel (like most mods do) and not general. Then everyone that wants this information can take a whole 30 seconds out of their very busy day and DL the addon.

Try paying attention to who is posting on your general chat. The times of day the addons are a problem you might not be pulled to another server, you might only be with people on yours.
It is all just my server except for a few hours early morning in those areas.
At some point your ignore list fills up. The only futher way to deal with it is to report them. Leaving the channel is not acceptable. You don’t leave a chat because someone else has bad manners. You teach the other person proper behavior and if they don’t want to learn, you remove them.
I like the old style of rares. I don’t use an add-on but I will usually call out a rare like Crazed Trogg or something like that so people get a chance to make it there in time.
All I wanted to add is that the last time we had this style of rare is a bit less than a decade ago. MoP ended in November 2014. It hasn’t even been five years since people were calling out Huolon and rushing there for a chance at the mount.
