I don’t use the add on and just typed when I saw a rare up. That was until last night when I was accosted for transposing the coordinates. I was just about to grab the add on to prevent that and to help other people when I thought of these threads.
So what did I do the rest of the evening? I solo bursted any rare I came across. Didn’t announce anything and just went about my day.
“Human garbage” couldn’t have put it any better. Reporting people that do this is just some one being a dick and censoring them. I mean in all honesty IS IT really that big of a deal? I find the announcing annoying, but the last thing that’d come to my head would be to report them.
People these days really think too highly of themselves and take themselves too seriously.
Are you sure you are playing WoW? Almost all rares spawn within a few mins to 30 mins. I know there is on that is an hour or a little less and one that is longer, but you seem to not have any clue what you are talking about because it is not using the old system of “long” spawn timers at all. You are being WAYYYYY over dramatic.
That is on you. I am 100% sure no one has ever been silenced for announcing a rare that no one else has announced (which I manually do every time I am about to fight one that no one else has called out). Now when Rustfeather spawned and all the sudden 10 people with an add on goes off? I am not going to report it because I love people calling out rares, but that is still spam by most every definition of the word.
Apparently it’s not just me. If people are getting silenced it means a lot of folks find the spam as annoying as I do.
There’s nothing wrong with the addon and broadcasting that stuff. It’s just an issue of where and how frequently it’s being broadcast. The addon developer should change it so that it checks to see if a rare has already been announced and doesn’t repeat. That would cut down on a lot of the multiple people spamming thing thats most of the annoyance. It should also use its own channel so people can opt into hearing it, rather than commandeering one of the Official channels.
They made “rares” near insta-spawn in legion and early BfA. This is a return to a better system of rares having a 30-60 min spawn but actually dropping stuff people want. Of course WoD and earlier rares often had a 1-2 hour spawn.
Then it would only help the people who bothered to install said addon. The way it works now helps everyone in the zone.
Again, I have to ask, why not just ignore them? You’re actively trying to punish people for trying to help their fellow players, which is genuinely small-minded and vile.
You are insanely toxic in this thread. Are you seriously not able to see other people’s view of not wanting to get repeatedly spammed with rare spawn and died info from multiple people? I like people calling out rares because I am a rare hunter at heart. I also know people do not like the add on spam, so I manually call them out when no one else has done so before I engage them.
Well that and with CRZ you would fill up your ignore space in an hour with people you will never see again. Instead you can right click on their name and report as spam to temporarily ignore them. Unfortunately this will generate a GM review if enough people do it. Blizzard having an “ignore for session” right click option would be a good solution.
It’s not a bot, it’s a player used addon. That’s not even what the report spam button is for, it’s supposed to be for clearing out advertisements. I cannot understand your viewpoint and am not going to bother trying any more.
No, what’s toxic is reporting people for daring to have a community. The only difference between addon announcing and typing it out yourself is efficiency.
I guarantee you people like the poster in question are probably reporting anyone who types out rare sightings too. They don’t bother to tell the difference.
Aren’t you just adding to the spam? If you call it out and 3 people with the different addons join in, each of their addons will write to chat when they target it. That makes 4 lines of chat.
Nope because if they do it AFTER I do it then they are spamming. I do not do it if someone else has already called it out. I cannot control what other people do nor does that make my original call out spam. You are actually pointing out why some people have problems with the add-on and not defending the add-on.
Like I said I love people calling out rares and do not have a problem with people doing it any way they can. I also have something called “empathy” where I can understand where people with out the same goals as I do would get annoyed with people using this add-on. That is why I do it manually.
Other players shouldn’t be forced to change their game play (ie hide general chat) because one addon is spamming it with information that they don’t care to see. The addon should just use it’s own chat channel (like DBM) and then if you want to see this automated rare reporting, you can DL the addon yourself.
I shouldn’t be forced to have my gameplay hindered because seeing text in the chat box you don’t personally like makes you upset.
Do you get upset when you loot 5 items from some mobs and 5 lines of text pop up in the chat box every 10 seconds? does that somehow hinder your chat experience? No?
Your not, if you want to see the information then you can DL the addon for yourself. I mean you could have done it in the time it took you to try and post your witty response…
