What a pointless discussion. The end result is totally different useless you have an idiot pushing that macro button.
In any case, you believe what you want to believe but I hope you never encounter a botting program and try to use this argument on blizzard that there is no difference between using that and using a macro.
I believe that everyone has every right to use what ever addons they wish to use without getting silence because of a few upset people who disagree with using addons, especially Rare Share Addons because apperantly, they are “spam” by your logic in this thread.
And yet, there is way more options for people who don’t want to use these or see these addons than those who chose to use them or want to see them.
It is spam. It used to be useful information at the start of the patch, but now more people have these addons that are constantly spamming messages in General installed that basically state “here’s a rare, but I’m going to burn it before you even have a chance to get here.”
I’ve always been against petty reporting, which includes annoying spam like these addons, but, again, it is annoying spam and I can see why some people would want to get rid of it. That coupled with the poorly thought out squelch/silence system that only benefits the abusive majority most of the time just compounds the issue.
The better solution would be to just break the functionality of the addons. I can’t think of a single automated chat posting addon that hasn’t been a problem at one point or another.
Indeed, its an important message in the zone general channel.
With the coordinates and HP% info, I can decide whether or not to go.
Rares were killed too fast is Blizzard’s tuning problem.
You can compare Carnivorous Lasher with Rustfeather.
Carnivorous Lasher takes particularly long to kill while Rustfeather can’t survive 10 seconds regardless of how many people are there.
I see 20+ people on Carnivorous Lasher and it takes more than 1 min.
Rustfeather dies very fast no matter how many people.
You really can’t be talking for what happens on other servers and other times of day than you play. Anyone who plays on a few servers should be able to notice pretty big differences in fact (based on my servers) in how long rares stay up. Then factor in different times of day.
Here we can see someone who sees the importance of the announcements.
And here we can see someone who hates fun as much as Blizzard.
Seriously dude, there are like 90% more people who enjoy having the messages posted in chat for the very reasons the guy above you said, too bad the banning in this game is mostly automated and only needs a small amount of people not realising the importance of having a community who helps each other.
What do you want us to do? Stop assisting each other and do things solo?
I have been using specific addons that warn me of Rares up and have yet to be silenced…rules of general chat you can only post 2 post every 60 secs…I have had that happen some of my pop up for a rare can’t be post cause prior posts of rares…so if someone is saying they got silenced I wouldn’t believe them…these specific addon have been used in game for years now…
This is how hunts work in FFXIV; there are chat groups where they are called out outside of regular chat. You join a couple of them - they are global, not zone specific - and announcements from other group members are made there. That said, it’s also routine for them to be announced in general chat in the zone as well since higher level top tier hunt mobs there are not soloable.
Oh, and automated calls are pretty routine that add the mob and location. No one ever got bent out of shape about them being broadcast in zone chat.
What the heck does that have to do with what I said and responded to. Each server is different and anyone who plays on different servers at different times of the day enough should be able to see the difference.
Some times of the day I will be able to make it all the way across the zone to tag a rare before it dies and other days even trying to make it half way across I don’t make it.
There are various other factors involved in that as well but since you are trying to personally attack me and create strawman arguments I doubt explaining them to someone like you is worthwhile.
Pardon me, but it is much more important for me to see the latest hilarious Thunderfury and Anal joke than to see some pointless information like a rare spawn, ok.
It’s sad that people are getting reported for actually trying to help other players.
It’s even sadder to see the human garbage in this thread defending such reporting and calling people helping each other spam. If seeing actual words from other people pop up in your chat is such a hindrance for your playstyle, maybe you’d be better off playing a single player game.
And to anticipate the “addons aren’t real communication” argument - addons are there to help people accomplish things. I would rather have something succinctly list out a rare’s location and hp than have to sit there and type it out every time.
