I don’t believe this is correct. I saw two announcements, one after the other, worded exactly the same from two different people for the same rare. I note there are different add ons because they word their announcements slightly differently, but this was an exact word-for-word.
Note, I don’t disagree with you in principle - the add ons don’t bother me despite the fact that I have a rarescanner and I know personally when they spawn anyhow. They do it to help other people so why anyone would be miffed by something thats actually socially helpful ingame is beyond me.
I don’t consider addons to be socialization. They are the opposite of socialization - communication with no effort plus they spam so much, real communication in the chat channels becomes difficult to do.
the addons are so helpful. it’s so easy to get hit the rate limiter anyway talking on general when I’m just trying to announce that the rare is up + coords, whether it’s tagged for horde/alliance, whether I need people to come kill alliance so we can get the tag back … etc half the time I’m trying to announce percents or if it’s hopeless to take it back and I can’t.
and here you have the WHOLE reason why it was reintroduced. But I didn’t think silences went through unless people physically reported… That means you have some real … in those shards…
It’s actually players helping other players, and the fact that you’re trying to make it out to be spam is a very sad reflection of the current poor state of the game’s community.
I bet you, and everyone else that calls this addon spam, don’t really know what true spam is like until you roll Horde on Illidan server and look at trade chat.
That’s not spam, that’s just being social. Bots are spam. At least back in my day, they would spell web sites out with gnome corpses. They were inventive. Nowadays we just have these spam addons. Pathetic.
We’ve literally explained this to you multiple times.
The addon communicates with other users using it. It will not send duplicate messages. Different addons use the same death message now. They’ve normalized it. It may look like it’s the same addon, but those are three different addon death messages.
And as I said, the addons ENCOURAGE communication.
I’ve talked to people in General Chat more this past month than I have in the past 7 years on WoW. People want to talk about the stuff that dropped from rares. They want to talk about how they’re grateful that people didn’t burn a rare. (Or they want to talk about how they’re mad they watched someone burn a rare/didn’t tell people a rare was up). They want to thank mages for polymorphing a rare like Soundless to extend its life so as many people as possible could tag it. Etc.
This addon ENCOURAGES people to be social. The fact you don’t notice that is not our problem. You just don’t want to notice it. That’s your problem.
I also explained this in the first post. Do not tell people to camp the rares. 6-7 rares in Nazjatar spawn ALL OVER THE ZONE. It’s literally impossible to camp them. Rockweed Shambler, in particular, requires an entire raid group to actively kill Algae Elementals for 8+ horus to get it to spawn, and even then, if some jerk decides to come along and burn it, the raid group that spawned it might not even get all of the members to it in time to tag it.
Nope, because I have seen other addon death messages (later the same day in fact). You are just wrong about this. The other poster told you as well but of course you will just ignore because this doesn’t fit the spiel you are trying to put out.
I actually find it amusing you claim to have started using this addon because you were tired of explaining where the rares were (correct me if I am wrong on that but I believe I read you said that), then when you got too scared to use the addon instead of just typing - rare x up in sparkweaver point, you just killed them yourself.
Me I dislike those addons but when I am on early morning and there isn’t all that addon spam, I will type rare up and explain to people where.
