So no physical authenticators after the 5th?

I doubt it. I run the app on an Ipod Touch with no problems.

I have have 2 physical ones for a cpl of my accounts i hope they still work not sure what i will do if they dont

You’ll be fine. This is just a migration for the app.

If you installed it back in the day it seems that you’re grandfathered in… but new installs require a phone number… Pay as you go don’t seem to work either. There are multiple threads on that. I have one of my authenticators on a verizon tablet that used to have a phone number, and it upgraded to the bnet app and still functions. I disconnected the number last year.

I will miss using my Cataclysm Authenticator Keychain… it’s still working too.

And it still will. Nothing is changing with physical authenticators.

Huh. Sorry to put out misinformation. I don’t like the idea that the installation is tethered to a phone number.

Well we removed one of ours physical ones not know it wouldn’t let us use the same number and now it won’t let us put it back on.

Wifi calls. It’s your friend.

I’d suggest posting in CS that you disconnected your physical authenticator and it won’t let you re-add it. They should be able to help. They’re pretty good with that stuff.

Yeah they’re expiring

Replacing with

Which says “Airtime or Wifi”

This also says Wifi

People are going to get upset when their Bank asks for you to have a phone so they can verify you’re a customer with their apps like most here in Australia already have, for example my bank sends a one time code to my app and gets me to verify that I’m actually in the bank. So everyone WILL NEED a mobile device at some stage.

didn’t you need a smartphone to run the app that is being deprecated?

Well they really need to make sure everyone can use them properly before they make it so everything is locked behind one.

Here’s an interesting story. My mom can’t sign up to use one of her bank apps, because her phone number is part of a family plan from my sis in law in an entirely different state. So it won’t verify her.

That would be like saying Microsoft needs to make sure that nobody is using their old operating systems before they stop supporting it. That isn’t going to happen. Things are sunset when it no longer makes sense to support them.

While I don’t like the new bnet app, and only needed the authenticator… this was intentional and should have been something that everyone knew was going to happen as soon as the message came up on that app. It even told you that the app was going to be discontinued.

Now do I think they should allow us to use something like the google authenticator, yes. I’m tired of having to have multiple apps on my device.

They are really doubling down on the whole “you guys must have phones right?”

Yeah still not getting a phone…can’t afford it, don’t want it, Canada is too expensive.

I’m still using the same physical authenticator I purchased from the Blizzard Store when they first became available.
