We have multiple people who play WoW in the home and not everyone has a phone number why can’t multiple accounts be under one phone number? It already sucks that Battle.Net app is the only one you can’t just use a Google authenticator for and it requires a phone number. FFXIV doesn’t require all this, nor does PlayStation or Nintendo
EDIT what are people with multiple accounts going to do?

The answer to this is… RMT bots, multiboxer bots, cheaters, hackers, criminal types, etc etc

I guess we’ll have to move over to a different game.

Wait I’m confused. Did I miss an announcement somewhere?

Who is this “we”? It’s my understanding that most normal players only have 1-2 accounts at the most (but mostly 1 account for the average player)
If you have like 5+ accounts (for some reason?) then my condolences
If you can afford 5+ accounts you can probably afford to buy an extra cell phone or two, so I don’t really see what the issue is here

I’m talking about people who don’t have cell phones and have a landlines because they live out in the country or w/e

Where is this “no physical authenticators after the 5th” announcement?

On WoW’s official twitter

Can you link it? I don’t have Twitter.

No Blizz is weird and won’t let me link anything because I’m not high enough rank on the forums or w/e

Oh! That’s easy! Put ` in front of and behind your link and it’ll put it in a code box to work.

^^^ This isn’t a thing, vast majority of rural folks are on smartphones as well in the year 2023. Same thing for most old folks and boomers
I have relatives in Mexico that live in rural villages/ranches about 30 minutes away from the city, and even they have smartphones
I’m almost wondering if you’re an alt or sockpuppet of one of those other posters that have been making “authenticator” complain threads on the front-page recently, because this whole thing with authenticators is basically a nothingburger for like 99.99% of the playerbase

Good news! That has nothing to do with physical authenticators.
That’s moving from the mobile authentiator app to the Battlenet app.

believe what you want but we have 1 cell phone in the house and it’s for work because we barely get signal here have to drive to the end of the drive way to make a call on a cell phone.

Correction: Only the battlenet app with authenticator is the way I read it. The physical ones might still work.

See my post above! You have nothing to worry about.
Pretty sure it says you have to migrate to the app which requires a phone number

So here’s how things work for phones: there was an app called Bnet Authenticator. Then they added the authentication process to the Battlenet app. And they gave people time to migrate over from the Authenticator app to the Battlenet app. They’re phasing out the Authenticator app and everyone on a phone will use the Battlenet app.
It’s completely independent from the physical authenticator and has nothing to do with this app phone change.

Yes… to use the battlenet app… The twitter post or the article it links to doesn’t say anything about the physical authenticators.
