Plain and simple…you either are for player agency or not.
Player agency means they get to choose what they participate in and what they do not. You want to player zombie apocalypse? Fine by me…go play it with all your like minded people and leave those who don’t want to play it in their own separate version of the zone.
Oh…you don’t have enough people opting into the content? Tough fricken luck. You don’t have any right to force someone to do something they don’t want to do just like you don’t have the right IRL to make someone do something with you. There is literally no difference when it comes to agency.
Player agency = my will for myself > your will for myself.

Very cool! You agree with me that war mode is even MORE essential now to PvP than it used to be since all servers now allow it?
I agree ,I do feel like i been mobbed. So off i go in game fishing for awhile.
Imagine how hardcore pvp players feel when they need to primarily do PVE content so they can pvp

Hold up, 3 people hold a GD crusade agenst the pre-patch and Bam it’s toast but thousands complain about the covenants for months with facts and streamer support and nothing!
ummm…I need a beer now.
However I still don’t agree that any part of a prepatch event should be separated by anything.
No this is more like comparing a video game to a heinous crime.

No one is going to force you to play that week
“If you don’t like it don’t play”
Every comment ever when someone says they don’t like the state of the game

I don’t understand it either

Having participated in the stress test today, i feel there are a few misconceptions happening here.
First, while it is true that other players cannot attack someone that is not PvP flagged, NPC zombies can. If you are attacked you are immediately flagged for PvP, and if you die you do turn into a flagged zombie. So, there is no true “opt in” involved.
Second, while there were some people afk in the city, most people I saw were actively doing other things such as picking up the starting quests, using the barber shop to check character appearance changes, etc. Not everyone who was asking for an opt in were wanting to “afk at the ah”. While I agree that they could easily use a different area to test the customization options, they can’t start the quest chain somewhere else.
Third, not every person that was looking for an opt in/out option wanted them to nerf the event into the ground. I think most were asking for everyone to get what they wanted out of the event in their own way.
My observations from the stress test were that the zombie spawn rate and power lvl was obviously under tuned. There is no true opt in/out here because all that needs to happen is that people find a way to get enough zombies going and they will get people flagged at some point (which did happen after players got bored and left the city). What we have here is a lose/lose situation where nobody is going to be completely happy. It’s a shame really. They could have figured out some way to do this.

I can respect that.
I completely disagree. I don’t even believe PvP should be in a PvE game and vice versa. The player bases don’t agree. If you are going to have both in a game, the best way was a complete hard wall like PvP and PvE servers.
Instanced content can exists, like letting PvP players raid or PvE players go into battle grounds, but the worlds shouldn’t ever share players with such differing philosophies

Reading comprehension fail…
A change for a event a week or 2 is totally different then a change for a expac that is a year or two.
You can live with a event!
At least give us the judgement re-color again.

This is relatively meaningless. Player agency is bounded by system design.
Also, I don’t understand “You don’t have any right to force…” Do you mean players or Blizzard?
Your comparison to real life is where this falls apart, because, needless to say, this isn’t real life.

You mean like those who cant fight one on one and need to fight those that don’t want to fight back? The ones who pretend they are strong but run as soon as someone stands up to them?
Easy to be tough behind a computer, with words. Like my bully always said, those who talk tough cant fight, or their mouths would be shut and their hands would be up.
Blizzard can. Players cant.
If Blizzard decides this is a PvP game, let them openly say it. Most will leave. Seems like they have decided PvE > PvP.
You = players.
Also it doesn’t matter if it is just a game. You dont have any right to force someone in a game to do something you want them to do. It’s one thing if they opt in to do something that involves you (like say joining a group).
People wanting to play zombies can play with people who also want to play zombies…not force their “fun” on others who aren’t down to play zombies.

It’s a shared world. Events should affect the whole world and not have to worry about the “safe space” of others.
