So much for the prepatch event

Already told you, I’m spiteful. People were already being rude so I could care less if they deleted it or gave an opt in.

There’s no use engaging with that person any further. We know exactly what they are and they don’t even care to hide it.

What part of you having chaos in war mode only is holding you back?

I mean do you worry about what happens on a different server?

I didn’t sign up to be on a PvP server and haven’t since starting EQ in 1999 (as a 30 year old) and I don’t want to be on one now. Even for a few weeks

so PvPers are upset because they can’t shut down newbie zones and cities with 200+ zombie raids?

I remembered the Pre-Wrath event resulted in some areas becoming a pain. High Level players had to camp newbie zones and capital cities. Nobody has to play babysitter just because a bunch of little sweatgoblins decide to 40 man Northshire abby or 200+ man raids that crash servers because they think it’s badass to zombie rush. Or cram 20 people inside one building (which isn’t fun for my computer for that time)

but hey, the pvpers lamentations is why we can’t have nice things

I was looking forward to it being disruptive. Prepatches were always the most fun when everyone stopped grinding, took a breath, and goofed around. It’s the eve of a new adventure, and I wish people would find the fun in it. These events can be enjoyable inconveniences, because they’re not introduced at particularly important moments. Celebrate transition from BfA to SL.

Hey now, I pay the same amount as you to afk while alt-tabbed and watching Netflix!

I am right there with you.

However.

There is no way I can get enjoyment from the pre-patch if it can force me into PvP or force me to not go to parts of the world because of PvP.

Let the zombies kill us all. Take the players out of it and I am fine.

I only PvP when “I” choose to, not when some other player decides for me.

What’s fun to you might not be fun to another. Which is why an opt out was asked for. It’s still not a particularly good outcome but I’m not very sympathetic with the way people reacted to people who just wanted an opt out before it was nerfed.

Agreed. I’m not even gonna bother with the pre-patch. Thanks a lump, Blizz; I was looking forward to it.

Or they could just increase the duration of Shackle Undead to 48 hours. That would be fun!

Unfortunately, this is an mmorpg. It can’t cater to everyone’s individual wants. This whole opt-out philosophy is just anti-fun in so many systems. I wish they’d just bring back PvP and PvE servers.

Edit: I also believe that dealing with a certain amount of grief is part of the experience. I think a game in which everything is always smooth sailing is lifeless.

I complained and continue to complain that they nerfed this. Surprise I don’t grief other players either.

An easy fix would have been this. Many more NPC healers to help heal/dispel. A toy that also heals/dispels. Bankers, AH, flight path, and quest givers all immune.

Blizzard did not need to go to the total opposite end of the spectrum and call it “fixed”. Then again we are talking about Blizzard.

People who don’t want cities to be unplayable latency traps and the new players Blizz is trying to attract with the leveling updates won’t be barred from playing the game for a month?

I’m simply fuming.

Maybe they swung the hammer too far, but let’s be honest, the novelty of it would’ve worn off within the first day for most of us.

Well, I don’t mind that they made new players exempt from it. New players just coming out of the new Exiles Reach being unattackable is fine; but for everyone else just afking in the city or at the AH? Sort of ruined the event.

Like I said before, I didn’t want this event to become what it is. The problem with your suggestions is that they don’t cure the main issue people had with the event.

WoW had PvP servers for a reason. PvE players like me don’t want to PvP unless we choose to like in a battleground. You can keep throwing everything out but no one has ever given me a reason why that stuff couldn’t be in war mode only.

There is no reason to force PvP on a player against their will IMHO except to grief. If its just about killing other players, why not go against others that want o fight back instead of those hoping to avoid it?

You mean, all the designated victims who you weren’t going to allow to have any fun at all could have chosen to opt out, and we couldn’t have that, could we?

It’s in Blizzard’s best interests to provide opt outs for people who don’t want to participate in events where other players are being incentivized to grief them, regardless of how much fun you find griefing level 10’s to be. Otherwise people will choose to opt out of the game.

The community really wouldn’t be better if normal people disproportionately chose to opt out, which is what actually happened on PvP servers. Most of them became so imbalanced that the PvP designation was in name only.

Imagine being such a stick in the mud you couldn’t just avoid the event areas like the plague.

Imagine being such a stick in the mud you couldn’t TURN ON WAR MODE.

I know it having an on/off switch is hard for so many to understand. Whiners complaining PvP happened in war mode and Whiners complaining PvP isn’t happening out of war mode.

It’s just a pun friend, calm down.

I checked for a blue post or something on Twitter about why the changes were made to the event but couldn’t find anything stating it was due to player comments. Can someone link please?
