So Microsoft owns Blizz/WoW. Does Sony own FF 14?

Is it possible that most people feel this way? You’re now the third person to tell me that they only play because of Sephiroth and find Cloud boring, and that Tifa and Aerith can sometimes be a bit cringe. :joy:

Yeah, not a big fan of those two either. They seem so kiss up towards cloud.

Final Fantasy series has always been Square Soft, until they merged i think with Squire Enix

Yeah, from what I’ve heard, it’s the typical cliché that everyone is into the protagonist/Cloud, which I wouldn’t find so great either.

Still looking forward to the Remake, though!

I feel like I just read somewhere the FF will no longer be exclusive to Playstations on release. Good. I have a PS5 but now that everything is being released on PC as well…4090 > PS5. I think I’m done buying consoles.

However, the Dualsense controllers are amazing.

Yep - Nintendo treated Sony the same way with that iron-fisty behavior over the SNES add-on.

There’s been lots of Square Enix games on Nintendo platforms over the years. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was a huge seller on the GameCube with it’s 4-player co-op. The 3DS saw lots of remakes and remasters of the older FF titles as well as the Bravely Default games. Can’t also forget the Dragon Quest franchise routinely appeared on both the Wii and 3DS, albeit a few years after their initial Playstation release.

The Switch saw a ton of Square Enix remakes/remasters and even got it’s own Square Enix-exclusives with Ocotpath Traveler and Bravely Default 2.

I think Square Enix has had a rather cordial relationship with Nintendo… It’s just that the Playstation is a more powerful console for their games and Sony has deeper pockets to pay Square more money to keep things like the Final Fantasy franchise as Playstation-exclusives for as long as possible.
