So Microsoft owns Blizz/WoW. Does Sony own FF 14?

no it does not

Square Enix is ending playstation exclusives because they got tired of their crap seems like sony should have kept playstation in japan instead of moving it to california.

If Sony own Final Fantasy 14 the game would be awful

dude, yeah pc’s are a part of the dev pipeline, but console exclusives don’t have a pc version just sitting there for years waiting to be released… The assets and coding are done using pc’s and console dev kits, using the consoles codeset and api. unless there’s going to be a simultaneous release, there’s only the version of a game for whatever system it was made for. take the ff7 remake, they didn’t have a pc version waiting to be released for a year, after teh finished the ps game they then ported it to pc.

it might happen after a timed exclusive deal

Well, I do know one thing, exclusive FF titles to the PS will no longer be a thing (thank god) sick of all the exclusive titles on consoles just let me play on pc

The big news couple weeks ago was SE said no more exclusives. Saying they were losing money by doing Sony Playstation only for Final Fantasy games.

now now that is not the right thinking there you need to buy the outdated plastic box to play these games. some fanboy quote

Well, they are losing money all over the place either way. Other than FF14, they’ve had a bad run over the last 4 or 5 years for all of their games

I want to play the remakes of Final Fantasy 7 this summer. So yes, please let me do that on PC. I was never a fan of consoles. The first part should already be available for PC, but I think the second one isn’t yet.

Right, I have a PS5 on my desk, and it’s taking up so much damn space it’s not worth $500 for a few exclusive titles. If I could play everything on PC, I would, but no, I have to buy a PS5. It’s ridiculous. But even with this new thing Sony is doing with FF and bringing it to PC, I am still forced to play on a PS5 just to get my money’s worth. Death to exclusivity

Yeah, that reminds me, I have 3 ff titles to finish before summer ends.

The hatred people have for FF16 frustrates me so much; it’s a good game; people just hate it because it isn’t a teenage protagonist with unrealistic powers or something.

Final Fantasy 16 was one of the top selling PS5 exclusive games and they still said sales are disappointing. They have unrealistic expectations.

and dont forget the helldivers 2 blunder they did lol and the psn is not world wide

Yeah, I have to admit that I didn’t play Final Fantasy 7 back then, but I’m really excited about the story and especially about Sephiroth. Somehow, I’ve known him my whole life and of course, I know his song, but I’ve never played it myself. He’s just one of those characters that almost everyone knows.^^

The Switch 2’s spec’s are still incredibly underwhelming for the current state of the market since its going to still be competing with Gen 6 consoles

K what? How out the loop are you? Square is trying to avoid making their titles exclusive because of the money loss. They aren’t going back to exclusives that wnd why nintendo lol

Sony had a very large stake in Squaresoft at one point, but IIRC they sold most of it off. Square was until recently still willing to give them quite generous exclusivity windows, but after FF16 and FF7 Rebirth didn’t make enough in up front sales, that’s going away.

Aside from being very doubtful given SE plans on not going with exclusive titles… Nintendo more or less has their own “FF Series” in the Xenoblade games.

Monolith Soft started out as a splinter group of Square employees who left to do their own thing over two decades ago, mostly because it became obvious that Xenogears was never going to get a sequel.

In any case, I think relations have cooled enough (and enough upper-level management have retired) for SE and Nintendo to work together again… but I doubt we’ll see SE exclusives on any console, let alone Nintendo.

… unless it’s a Xenogears remake made by Monolith Soft, but that’s a pipe dream.

Yeah, there’s several videos about it, but the best summary of why SE ditched Nintendo is that the fact that they’d need like 16+ carts to fit the data of what they wanted to do with FF7, and it still wouldn’t look as good.
