So, with the removal of rep requirements for allied quests, they actually made Mechagon - the noninstanced version inaccessible for anyone who has alts who may have unlocked Mechagnomes.
You can only go to Mechagon on the character you have exalted with and who had done the quest.
They moved the quest to the Embassy and it can only be done once.
Furthermore, Mechagnomes… who start in Mechagon City - have a nonfunctioning Mechagon City teleporter at the base of their ramp. Yep. They have a non-functioning teleporter to the noninstanced version of their city that anyone who had previously had exalted and did the Urgent Care quest can access at will.

For some reason, people seem to be confusing Mechagon City with the Island. Let the screenshots posted below clarify this. This is Mechagon City.

To explain the problem:
- After the quest to unlock the Mechagnomes was moved to the Embassy, only one character per account can unlock this city to roam around in. It’s completely uninstanced with NPCs and everything. Previously, multiple alts could do this and have access to this entire city. Currently, you do not need reputation with Rustbolt to unlock the Embassy quest (you’ll see some Vulpera trying to deboonk below, but not realize he won’t be able to access the city on an alt now that he did it on his Vulpera).
- Mechagnomes start off in this city, but cannot access it. The screenshots show two teleporters which are similar objects from the quest, but are not active for some reason, but it connects to the same uninstanced version of the city as problem 1 pops up. It’s the same city unlocked in the quest. Mechagnomes cannot access their own home city.

If you begin on a Mechagnome (posting previous screen shots). You cannot use the teleporter in 3 and 4. Nor can any character ever use them again or access the teleporter in Part 1, except the one who did the quests before this or, if you’re unfortunate to be a new player, you can only access this ENTIRE CITY on a SINGLE character. Do not delete it.

I have been able to get to mechagon island just fine on some toons that have never done the rustbolt rep, so I have no idea what you are talking about.

There is an entire uninstanced faction city that is no longer accessible or unlockable by alts.

Let me explain it.
Originally:
You got exalted with Rustbolt. You got the quest Urgent Care. It was the quest to unlock Mechagnomes. It opened up a teleporter to a non-instanced version of Mechagon City that is friendly and you could run into other players, hang out there, etc. The city is friendly and has no hostile NPCs.
Before the embassy change, you could do said Urgent Care multiple times (as long as you got exalted) and unlock this ENTIRE CITY for those characters.
Currently:
Since they did the Embassy change - alts can no longer do this. Only the previously exalted and quest-doers of said quest have access.
Mechagnomes, themselves, who start in this city, cannot even access the teleporter (which is an object that doesn’t even work now) to this city and this area at the bottom of their own ramp in their starting area.
Thus, new alts are unable to access an entire city now. Even Mechagnomes.

you mean my toon created in SL is now safe from hearing that mekkatorque is fading fast every time they zone into boralus after completing the mechagon intro quest?

You missed the part where the character who unlocks it is the only one who has access, didn’t you?
The Embassy quest locks it to the ONLY character who does it. No other characters can do it after.
The previous version allowed everyone who did the quest on any number of alts who got exalted.

Yeah, seeing as how the teleporter for Mechagnomes is broken, you can no longer access an entire city on alt, despite having all the achievements, and the quest not being available on alts anymore.
My friend has it on their Warrior, Warlock, and Rogue who did it pre-embassy and can no longer unlock it on their alts.
I did it only on my hunter. Since the embassy change, I am unable to unlock it on any other character period.

are you complaining that they made mechagnome unlock work the same way as every other allied race unlock? you can only do it once per account.
No, they’re complaining that they can’t access an entire city because of the change in the unlock.

You used to, previously, be able to do this quest unlocking the area MULTIPLE TIMES on MULTIPLE ALTS.
Since it has been moved to the Embassy, Alts can no longer do it because it’s been locked to a single time since after that.
So, if you go to Mechagon and unlock Mechagnomes now - at Neutral as the person above showed. Your alternative characters (no matter how many) can’t get there now. Only one character per account it looks like.

Given how the other 7/8 allied race unlocks work, I suspect that you being able to do it again at all was a bug they just didn’t bother to fix.

… My guy. The allied race starts in this city. I have a Mechagnome.
Now. Work with me here. Follow the trail of logic that I posted in the OP.
Even if you make a Mechagnome. There is a TELEPORTER to the city at your starting zone. You literally start off in a PORTION OF THIS CITY. This uninstanced version.
That does not even work, even though it’s the same object that should do so. There’s a connecting teleporter object you can see from the ramp, even. You cannot go to the area with the allied race, either, because something messed up and the teleporter is actually broken.

This is like saying that my Dark Iron Dwarf can’t access Shadowforge City or a Night Elf not being able to access Suramar, or a Lightforged Draeni not being able to access the Vindicar due to the change.
The issue isn’t not doing the quest chain multiple times, it’s that they forgot to open up the city when they removed the quest chain making it largely inaccessible.

This. I got max level and even did the achievement for Mechagon AGAIN to check. The teleporter doesn’t unlock even in my own starting zone for that.
