So marksmanship is losing pets LOL is that a joke?

I’ll probably miss running around with my friend Ristar the Rabid :frowning:

I mean, this is sort of what I expect from the folks who think Rexxar is SV, when every source I can find states Mok’nathal as a people are Beastmasters.

They also think wasps produce honey for some reason.

The changes are so drastic that it’s a new spec, so why not just do that? Make a forth spec. Call it Lone Wolf.

Changes this drastic halfway through an xpac is insane.

They’re doing what?

Checks patch notes

I should go roll a hunter in classic just to play the glorious class I used to love again.

Dislike :frowning: I am attached to my pet buddies. I don’t want a forced eagle.

I tried that, but then dealing with mana was irritating :joy:

I really miss og survival.

I kind of liked mana more than focus.

What I really miss is WotLK era Survival, but when Classic hit that I was playing a rogue this time around.

Honestly, 4 specs for most classes or in this case 5 for Hunters wouldn’t be a bad idea. Call the 4th and 5th for Hunter Archer (Petless Marksman) and Trapper (Ranged SV).

Hunters were a pain to play in Vanilla and TBC. Mana drain was a challenge and you had to buy arrows or bullets (or both in case you got a new weapon while questing.)

It would be nice to be able to choose any “flying” pet from our Hunter’s stable, including Rocket Chickens.

My MM Hunter is a Night Elf and would love to use her owl that she’s had since she could tame a pet.

My Turtle and Pink Elekk both fly, I swear.

I’m honestly kind of not surprised given how strong lone wolf was for a long time. This just gives it some functionality but keeping that same vibe.

Tbh I enjoyed cata survival way more, but that was when mana was removed :joy:

I didn’t mind ammo at all. You had a sizeable quiver and could stock up on thousands upon thousands and be set for a long while.

Mana was my gripe. Having to carrying drinks and pots just felt out of place for something using a bow.

ok… guess you are new to marksmen, they haven’t had need for a pet for a long time until recently, i have played a mm since draenor, never used a pet, still don’t, buff lone wolf was well worth the no pet, only time used to see a mm with a pet was to do a quick hero and dismiss, or if the player had survival issues,

No one i think said you need one, but stripping the option of using a core feature of a class is most people’s issue

First they killed the OG SV Hunter, now this.

If this goes through without a rollback, time to delete the char (yeah, that drastic. I can’t stand “melee” hunter and BM is a borefest).

I greatly dislike most of the announced PTR changes on ALL classes.
It might be time to finally quit WoW for good.

This is worse than when we lost the permanent Water Elemental on Frost Mage.

Cata was when I switched to warrior cause their paladin rework also annoyed me to give me “holy combo points”.

I also miss ammo. I know they moved away from that kind of stuff, but I feel like they could have done more interesting things with it rather than just remove it.

They still had the option though, and it’s silly to remove it.

The game should not be terrified of the idea that a player might do something less than optimal because they might actually just like having a pet.

Really? All I remember was a meme capstone ability called Sidewinders where you fired snakes doing figure 8s at enemies.

God I hated that skill lol.

I’ve always been a BM hunter but finally made a MM a few months back to give it a go. I mostly run him without the pet out, but I did just tame the reindeer earlier today lol.
I do bring my pet out, usually a wolf once and while if I think I’ll need assistance, but I hope I can opt out of the eagle and never have it out, don’t really care for flying pets much, they are annoying and never land. /shrug

Yes, as per their new passive:

  • Eyes in the Sky – Gain the aid of a Spotting Eagle. Damaging an enemy with an ability empowered by Precise Shots has a 30% chance to cause your Spotting Eagle to mark your target. Enemies marked by your Spotting Eagle take 10% increased damage from your Aimed Shot. Replaces Call Pet and all associated Pet abilities.

The link to WoWhead to read such can be found on comment #6 of this thread by Azukí.

There’s been quite a few threads on the forums if they should share exotic pets with the other specs, or at least just survival since they fight side-by-side them & would naturally form a bond — and the commentaries of hunters suggested that exotic pets and ALL pets in general are central ONLY to Beast Mastery and the others should never have it … Seems like the responses prompted Blizzard to somewhat answer the hunter-community with what they proclaimed.

Be careful what you wish for!

… I’m sure this will be like the Frost Mage and water-elemental, where you’ll get a temp-pet summon on some abilities but simply not a constant pet anymore.
