So marksmanship is losing pets LOL is that a joke?

Got me to post for the first time in years. I do a lot of solo marks hunter play and losing my tanking pet will completely ruin the experience. I’m fine with switching to lone wolf in raids but when I’m alone you want me to be a sniper that face tanks everything?

Something to point out: Some people have had their MM Hunters since the game launched, complete with pets tamed since then. For many, they have been life-long companions.

To completely remove said pets and stick them with some random eagle is really infuriating and reminds me of when I quit Everquest 1. I had made my Beastlord a Troll specifically because of the alligator pet. I gave him a name and was a very important part of my character’s persona.

After many years, I logged on to find my alligator pet was changed to this god awful ugly basilisk, and several other Troll Beastlords were also angry. I ended up quitting Everquest 1 because I was extremely attached to my alligator and it was an important part of my character and enjoyment of the game.

I imagine there will be several MM Hunters out there who would feel the same in this situation. Thus I will say again that I hope this really gets reconsidered, because it is not fun to have a companion who has been with you since the beginning for years get replaced by something completely different against your will.

To be clear: I’m still for the option for those who want Lone Wolf to have it, but for those that want pets still, MM Hunters should continue to have that choice and be able to have the character they’ve made and designed backstory after many years of playing the game.

BM’s probably safe.

Blizzard seems like they don’t know wth they want to do with Hunter.

I’m actually looking forward to testing this tbh. I’m tired of BM but it’s my favorite out of the 3 specs.

until someone links the actual notes im disregarding this thread. if your not going to link the notes im not gonna take you seriously op. its not hard. it takes literally 30 seconds and almost no effort.

WTF? I have been running with the same Cat for 20 years on my main Hunter. Not sure how i feel about this, maybe it will be ok if i can customize it some. Have to think about this one.

I t won’t be targetable. It will be like the crows that appear with Murder of Crows – more a visual effect for the ability that’s being used than an actual pet.

“Eyes in the sky” is cool and a lil new but the “Harrierʻs Cry” is just the same old PetLust weve had for a while now.
I guess its better than a no pet MM who couldnʻt cast PetLust to begin with.

im not taking back my post. people need to stop being lazy and refusing to link anything and assume everyone reads wowhead.

it will be more like murder of crows or the sentinel “pet”. not something actually controlled more of a spell effect

they better let us keep the pet stun and the other two assist abilities without a pet, and give us mortal wound effects, like wth

  • Intimidation now has a unique variant when you’re in Marksmanship spec that does not require line of sight and uses your Spotting Eagle.

I could be misinterpreting the wording here but I don’t think it’s gonna be an actual pet but like a spirit that makes previously jank abilities work (exists outside of combat according to the blue).

I’d imagine/hope there’s a glyph that makes it dissapear and then if you use an ability that needs it it does its thing (e.g: intimidate) and goes away.

They’re the ones calling it a “true pet”.

I can’t begin to describe how much I hate this change.

Being told a class-specific feature (tamed animal pets) is getting axed from an entire specialization is just so… disheartening. I spent so long trying to get particular pets. To farm up Dragonflight rep to get Swog pets. Hunting down the golden-furred Treasurewhiskers in Sniffenseeking. Getting the Drustvar beast variant pets from SL.

Now I’m getting told that if I don’t play the specs I don’t like playing, I don’t get to have those anymore.

interesting, that’s a bit disappointing then. I was going by " seeing Marksmanship lose their pet functionalities and it is instead joined in battle by a unique Eagle pet that will exist outside of the game space but continue to support you in combat in a uniquely Marksmanship way"

making it still a pet misses the whole point imo
