I think they tried that already and got a lot of flak.
So now they just flat remove pets altogether and give you this thing that pops up to buff you and poof.
I’ll need to read more on it to fully understand it’s new mechanics. But it just sounds like a mage familiar, not a “pet” if that makes sense.
The tiny tinfoil hat bit of me, thinks Blizzard really doesnt like hunters for their sustained popularity. But most probably its an internal developer truculent position.
MM will have to be mage like in its cc’s tool kit.
It could be, I feel like we won’t know until it hits the PTR honestly. I can only base this off of their wording of ‘unique Eagle pet’, but I am going to remain mostly indifferent until we see how it actually functions in the PTR, I am looking forwards to at least testing it out.
not really. mm requires you to stand still for aimed shot. you can do more damage face rolling 3 buttons with bm than hitting your whole rotation on marks
Still though, however functional or passive it is I still don’t like it. Having it just be an eagle with no other choice might be fine for some races. Tauren, absolutely. Blood elf even. Maybe even kul tiran and human. The rest it just feels ill-fitting. Night elves for example. Them and owls go hand in hand. They could at least make the effort for it to be a single unique animal that suits each race.
I have played both since the game came out. there’s a reason bm has always been the joke “easiest spec in the game”. you get your full uptime while moving. that alone is easier than having to be stationary for aimed shot.
“I’ve been playing this spec for 15 years, so it’s easy to me” is not the knock-down argument you seem to think it is. The simple fact of literally never having to worry about standing still makes BM the simpler spec by itself.
if they are gonna “reimagine” marksman then they need to go all in. just wipe the slate clean and even go as far to rename the spec itself.
“Ranger”
then build upon that.
i hate melee survival. its an abomination especially at the cost of ranged survival. and bm is just too buggy, glitchy and the pet pathing annoys me.
so if they do this to marksman then i hope they take their time. would hate to see them screw up. which would not be surprising, but i will be hoping for the best.
Why would BM’s Solitary Companion be the play for a throughput loss? Isn’t the idea with min/maxers to maximize DPS, not take a talent with a loss in DPS?
This is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard “we want to reimagine MM, so we’re taking away your customizable pet, but here’s a pet you can’t get rid of at all that’s not /really/ a pet, but is still going to feel like a pet.”
Jee, thanks. I’m sure my Ironforge Rifleman MM Hunter is really going to love having to have a pet now.
Except we’re not really losing the pet. We’re getting a standard issue Eagle pseudo-pet that can switch between Cunning and Tenacity (no more leech from Ferocity).
