So I just realized, this means Misdirection is gonna be useless for MM 100% of the time outside of group content now?
well for mass pull farming / open world / delves, you are doing it wrong.
every hunter and their dog knows to be maximum efficient and take 0 damage and reduce your chances of dying to 0 in those 3 aforementioned gameplay scenarios we:
md pet
180 / 360 barrage everything
mend pet
freezing trap
binding shot
implosive trap
destroy
I already provided a better example of that: Rets not being able to wear shields.
Pets for MM already didn’t work all that well, you were taking a DPS loss by not using Lone wolf to begin with.
It’s just like if Rets could no longer use shields, if Rets would start complaining about that.
Or just change to Beast Mastery, as it is far better at solo, kinda like how if you wanna solo as a mage you’re probably going to go frost.
I hate BM - I will just stop playing my 4 plus hunters if I can’t play like I have been.
It’ll be super lame, SUPER. LAME. if we don’t get to customize the eagle pet. Maybe I don’t want a gd eagle. Did’ya think about that, huh?! Maybe I wanna use my Carrion Bird, or get a Q bug, or use my Cinderbee.
Maybe I do use my bee like some nature lovin’ freak; did’ya think about that, Blizz?!! Wait… that came out wrong…
Customize the eagle or gtmfoh!!
That is all.
No it isn’t, ret is defined by using two hand and requires that for its abilities to function. Marksmanship was never defined by being petless, nor did the class cease function with a pet, in fact it’s the other way that by not using a pet you turn off a lot of abilities. And for DPS you are looking at like 3% damage increase going lone wolf, not really sure a lot of people are going to make a huge use of that.
For you maybe… I play my way. I despise any class/spec that requires a pet which is why I rarely play my Warlock.
As far as what’s META I couldn’t care less.
I get it and it sucks, but that might be the way it has to be. I would advise at least giving single pet BM a go once it hits PTR. On my Warlock I’ve always played Destro, at least since MoP and never gave Demo a chance. When I recently came back after I stopped playing in BFA I gave Demo a run just for giggles and found out I am really enjoying it.
You might be surprised if you give it a go.
i get that.
just pointing out that as a hunter with an ability to misdirect all your threat to essentially a “target dummy / tank” that you can also heal, so you can stand back and just setup, slow, stun, and destroy is well not playing your class properly.
you can play how you want, but again, for maximum efficiency and ease of play, having that pet out just makes life so much easier / faster.
Agree 100%
I have no problem at all soloing as Arcane. It’s the only mage spec I ever play… I hate Fire with a burning passion (pun intended).
This feels like RSurvival all over again. I love MM in group/raid content where it doesn’t need a pet and it’s fine, but when I’m doing non group content I still want to be able to pull out my pet even if it’s a dps loss. Warlocks have Grimoire of Sac and can still whip out a pet whenever they want to and just lose the bonus, why does MM have to PERMANENTLY lose their pet?
I understand your point. The main reason I never use pets is that I feel the same way about them as many people do about Brann… more of an aggravation than a help. The get in my way and even on passive pull things I don’t want pulled.
The entire outrage is over the worst of the worst players freaking out their hp wall that was used passively is being taken away from them but for some bizarre reason they won’t play bm
and that is exactly why i hate bm. the pet pathing is beyond buggy and horrendous. i have no problem playing it, i just dont like the problems that come along with it.
that being said, i dont play with a pet either as mm in m+ or raid. nobody do. but m+ and raid only accounts for about 5% or less of my playtime. i do everything in wow and everything else the other 95% i have my pet out mass pulling zones and solo instances etc…
this can still be done as bm even after the 11.1 changes, but i think the point everyone is zeroing in on is the fact that blizzard wants to reimagine mm hunter by taking away pets? but yet giving us a mandatory eagle pet? that we cannot control or interact with?
yea seems legit. moronic really.
People have explained it a dozen times, removing an option to fix an issue not related to what was removed, then not only not going all the way but insulting with a forced pet and calling it your true pet and companion is just not cool. People who wanted to play old survival got folded into MM, now the same thing is happening with folding into BM.
I have tried playing BM multiple times and every single time I switch back to MM.
That is exactly why I love this change.
What I think is crazy is Blizzard solved this ages ago in Legion, your followers on the field had two settings; Fight at my side or show up do a thing and leave.
actually if i remember right this dumb idea was my fault i imagined this in the timeline i came from in 2023 before i went 3 years back in time. maybe it’s not a dumb idea but it seems controversial going by this thread at least. i dunno sorry all.
Seems like a dumb decision. Just put the ability to have a pet or being lone wolf early on and mandatory so people can pick their preference and be done with it.
