Yeah, I’ve only seen the negative reaction here. People seem stoked other places that I’ve seen it discussed.

I like eagles as pets.

Nah. I like MM. I want to keep playing MM. I hate how BM plays and feels and I hate SV even more. You’re just fine with ruining my game experience because you don’t care about anyone but yourself.
A real life marksman wouldn’t be using magic attacks or any sort of pets. So we’re already far off the mark there.
Nah. You’re just being hateful for the sake of being hateful. I’ve proposed options that would allow MM to retain their pet while letting you pet-haters have your spec too, but you don’t want that. You want to ruin the game for others because you don’t actually care about the Hunter class, you just care about making other people mad.

Or I could play MM as it is. BM and SV are not specs that I enjoy. I should not be forced into stuff I don’t like in order to keep the pet I already have in the spec I already enjoy.
Except it’s not. It’s just going to be a weird mishmash that still has a pet that you can’t control or customize. You need to read up on the actual changes being proposed before you work yourself up into a frenzy over something you clearly don’t understand.

Given I rarely, if ever, use a pet as MM (I don’t even use one in Delves), I think the eagle sounds like a very intriguing concept. In the end though, it’s all going to come down to how it’s implemented.
the only time I don’t use a pet is in group content which I rarely do. 99% of my time playing my hunter was using a pet.

Also, if the name of the spec is such a massive deal, then we can more easily change the name from MARKSMANSHIP to RANGER so the pet haters can stop losing their minds.

or better option, create a “RANGER” class. So that they can have their cake as a ranged bow/gun class without pets, and hunters can eat theirs too as the pet class they’re supposed to be.

Remove portals and blink from not arcane mage, no more frost nova or ice block unless you spec frost.

I dont really do anything competative with my hunter so this whole lone wolf thing is a I dont care thing but I use the pet to tank for me for dailes and stuff. Losing my wolf(aside from the emotional value) is a big loss of utility.
What, does Blizzard expect me to tank elites on my own without pets??? And being I dont want to melee, I am going to end up Beast Master.
Kinda ironic that the two defining things of hunter(having a pet and being range) can now only be found on one spec of them.
