Blizzard says they want it to be a “true pet” so we’re not even going petless. We’re just losing customization and control over it.
Pretty sure I read the eagle described as “existing outside the gamespace.”
Well then that’s bad.
Just buff Lone Wolf and leave it alone then.
That’s what it said, but the blue post above says differently.
It makes me think of that ability with the Sentinel Owl.
You saw an owl flying around, but it wasn’t your ‘pet’, just baked into the ability itself.
Sure, but then I’d be pushing to get more information if Blizzard have any plans for Marksmanship’s solo survivability. I somehow doubt it since Hunters, at times when they have been able to dish out damage and survive, have been rather oppressive.
No idea about any of the implications though, I’m just saying it makes a whole lot more sense than what folks who say “but why though?” in this thread.
Considering that they implemented Lone Wolf during Warlords and folks still uses it to this day … that is one hell of a floating and functional lead balloon in that case. Not to mention when I have looked into what folks seem to generally think about Lone Wolf, the general consensus is “Oh thank god I don’t have to deal with pet AI and I get an increase in damage from doing that!”
So… yeah. That is in fact a very stable and soaring through the sky lead balloon in that case.
I have nothing further to say if you’re going to misinterpret what I said so you can keep arguing.
Weren’t they all taking lone wolf?
Marksman is more fun than BM, I want to be a skilled archer with a pet. Like why defend losing options. Like woohoo, people who want no pet lose by having mandatory pet and people who want their pet are now forced to have an eagle.
I’ve no interest in playing my tracker if they can’t have their dedicated companion with them.
Pretty much. I love Lone Wolf.
I doubt even half the people playing this game are M+ or raiding to the point they would prefer the spec not even having the option of a pet just so they don’t have to summon a pet sometimes in groups without a lust. It’s a bad change, simple as.
I said it in the other thread, they should add a hero talent track for MM Hunters so they can choose to go full petless and leave the rest of us alone.
I assumed it was still an option. This was just the option replacing Lone Wolf.
Personally I’d be fine with Lone Wolf staying or being g buffed if it was needed.
… I have no idea how else to interpret what you said in that case?
Back during WoD I didn’t care that much about the social discourse so most of my stuff I got from guildmates and I have been around rather relaxed folks for most of my time prior to moving to the US realms. So very few times did I ever encounter folks who made it their personality to complain about stuff, I only encountered that when I got to the US.
If folks didn’t like something, they swapped classes because they liked the game and wanted to play something else in that case. So I genuinely have no idea how to understand what you are saying if you aren’t talking about Lone Wolf, and Lone Wolf was introduced during Warlords and is still actively used to this day. When reading up on talents and folks opinions about hunters (by hunters), if folks want pets they go and play Beastmaster and adore their Hati whereas if folks didn’t want pets they’d play Marksmanship.
I do not understand how I have misinterpreted what you have said if this somehow is wrong when it seems to be the general consensus going back since at least Warlords of Draenor.
Because I have been playing the game long enough where I know some changes are good because losing options if replaced by things that make sense is a better change.
Marksmanship has been a defacto in practice petless specialization since at least Warlords of Draenor, roughly for a decade in other words. It makes sense in terms of the abilities, how it is thematically structured, what folks playing Marksmanship in general terms seem to want and like about it.
How is losing something irrelevant but gaining something thematically and mechanically relevant losing options in that case?
Because it’s easier to use a pet solo on MM for things like delves. Also handy in pvp.
This is what the dev said:
In Undermine(d), Marksmanship Hunters are losing access to “traditional” pets, like Survival and Beast Mastery have, and are instead permanently joined in battle by an Eagle.
It was so crushing, namely right after learning pet specs returned
BM is the Flash of WoW specs, sure it can hit as hard as the best class spec (just like Flash can hit someone with the same force as Supes or Martian Manhunter with enough of a running go) and it has the same speed, but where most classes have the advantage is that much like Flash, BM is a fleshy weak thing no more durable than Batman in most situations.
A Warrior or other melee class or spec can more easily absorb brunt damage to the face with how their defensive and healing kits are setup.
Admittedly this means Warlocks and Mages should honestly be more like BM as they are equally squishy.
All that needed to happen was for us to choose which pet spec benefits when we used Lone Wolf OR to give all hunter’s Lust/Hero button independent of pet choice.
If they want to keep the new spotters mark and eagle mechanics we should have a choice node or option to choose between no pet management (eagle) or pet management (in which we choose our own pet).
Ah. Well, I’d rather not see this pet at all. They said it was outside the game space then talked about customizations later. So I don’t understand. And I think it should be an option.
I also still think it’s easier to just buff Lone Wolf if it needed it.
Because Marksman players lose pets, it’s that cut and dry. I get it, it doesn’t bother you or 90-whatever% but it’s not fun for those of us that do care. If you make frost dual only we ca- I don’t care, I want 2 hand frost. I want to play Marksman with a pet how I always have.
I don’t mind too much, but when I do things like delves that require a pet to tank some of the damage (well, early on anyway), I prefer being able to use a pet even if it means less damage. Still, I can use BM or SV for that, and I’ll be fine. I don’t play the spec, I play the class.
