I’m on a PvP server, and I understand you can get ganked pretty much anywhere. However, I was with a group of 2 others in Dire Maul: East, and once we were done we exited the back tunnel. There was a group of Alliance parked there, and they killed us as we exited, one by one. Now, that’s fine and all, but they did it in a place where I couldn’t get back to my corpse, and I had to run aaaaallll the way back to the graveyard, and was FORCED to take the rez penalty. That, to me, is just griefing, and shouldn’t exist.
Is this kind of thing condoned by Blizzard? Or is it reportable?
It’s pvp on a pvp server, and it isn’t exploiting guard pathing to not die, so I can’t imagine it would be a violation of any rules regardless of the fact you are forced to take a spirit rez.
So to clarify, they did nothing that would merit any ToS breaks.
You died and whatever happened happened. If you think that their killing you was intentional to experience whatever other issue outside of dying, then no, PvP happened on PvP realm.
Was it only you who couldn’t get back to your corpse or was it your whole group? If it was the whole group then maybe, but I guess it depends on how long they were doing it in that exact spot which would tell whether or not they knew what they were doing.
If you and everyone else are essentially forced to take a rez penalty I don’t think its “pvp happening on a pvp server”, seems like an exploit.
You and the GM would have to prove that was their intent to cause an issue of this nature and that an ongoing issue existed to where people would still exploit it to cause grief.
I’m not actually sure about this. Ganking is fine, but ganking people in places where they cannot get their corpse might be an example of this:
C. Rules Related to Game Play. Game play is what World of Warcraft is all about, and Blizzard strictly enforces the rules that govern game play. Blizzard considers most conduct to be part of the Game, and not harassment, so player-killing the enemies of your race and/or alliance, including gravestone and/or corpse camping, is considered a part of the Game. Because the Game is a “player vs. player” game, you should always remember to protect yourself in areas where the members of hostile races can attack you, rather than contacting Blizzard’s in-game customer service representatives for help when you have been killed by an enemy of your race. Nonetheless, certain acts go beyond what is “fair” and are considered serious violations of these Terms of Use. Those acts include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
(i) Using or exploiting errors in design, features which have not been documented, and/or “program bugs” to gain access that is otherwise not available, or to obtain a competitive advantage over other players;
(ii) Conduct prohibited by the EULA or elsewhere in these Terms of Use; and
(iii) Anything that Blizzard considers contrary to the “essence” of the Game.
Yeah thats why I was wondering if his whole crew had to res that way or just him, and how long they were doing it in that exact spot. But still, would be hard to prove. So i’m with you there.
Being forced to spirit res is “working as intended”? In case you are new to wow, the idea is you are supposed to be able to walk back to your body and res. When you can’t do that, its generally a bug. If people know about this bug and know how to make it happen, it is an exploit.
Bugging out the guards and avoiding them is still “pvp problem with pvp solution” but that doesn’t mean its not an exploit or bannable. You and anyone else spouting this garbage need to stop because that is not applicable with bugs or exploits. If you are going to say something stupid like that at least make an attempt to explain HOW its a pvp solution and not a bug / exploit.
The exit tunnel from the back of DM:E leads to a small hole you drop down, and then continue on. I was killed too far into the tunnel, and couldn’t get close enough to my corpse.
