So, is devastation evoker, just

Going to be trash? This never happened, I leveled one because I thought the history would repeat itself as it was with DK, WW and DH. Some are OP to this date.

I’ve been evenly playing both specs. Devoker is a powerhouse. The problem is, our defensives are garbage tier, and we end up having to use them offensively, instead of defensively. Which in the end, I think is fair. Because the damage I am capable of putting out is bonkers.

Why does everyone think ww was good to start mop

Ehhh, damage can be good during dragon rage/when someone is full because of how frontloaded our damage is. Against anyone with half a brain our fire breath dot will be dispelled since there is no reason anyone wouldn’t. So no ticking the dot faster with catalyze, no burnout procs. Outside of our obsidian scales, people can easily kick disint. Hard casting living flame isn’t a real option, people can just walk behind a pillar easily enough. We can do nice setups with deep breath. But good players won’t let themselves get in a position to let this happen. (This can work really well with a dk though). And we can setup mini goes if we go down to iridescence.

Even with the disint buff, disint by it’s self really isn’t that strong, though getting back to back scint procs is nice. But I have had matches where I have almost gotten none lol. Yes against players/teams that have no clue how devoker works we can blow someone up. If people just play in the middle of arena and let us free cast we can do decent dmg to.

Outside of dragonrage though when someone is low, a lot of times it can be difficult to secure anything.

Devoker still has quite a few dead talents. And compared to Pres, it’s just extremely underwhelming. You are correct we do have to use our defensives offensively. Which for what we gain by doing that I think is fair as well, kick immunity alone is worth that. I do wish renewing blaze ticked faster though, with how long of time there is between ticks, it can be easily dps’d through if we don’t have obsidian to pair it with.

Because the only thing people remember is how stupid ww was at the end of the expansion when they sneezed and had max teb stacks and then deleted people

The damage you are capable of outputting is still drastically inferior to all of the other ranged. Devoker brings nothing of value to any group it’s in. It doesn’t hit hard enough, it doesn’t move fast enough, it’s made of paper, and its CCs are garbage tier.

To be perfectly frank, I avoid working with them whenever possible. I’ve even stopped playing mine despite finding it fun because it’s just so bad. It’s nothing against their players. It’s just a dead spec as far as PvP is concerned, and having it on your team is going to be a detriment unless that player is freakishly good at the game.

This is also my experience. Top damage nearly every game and having to protect my burst with my defensives, but being relatively week to concerted training efforts. I have not at all perfected my spacing though, but even given that I don’t feel remotely as squishy as other people seem to.

The main things I want changed immediately are fixing the bugs with empowered spells and Deep Breath pathing and having Hover off the GCD and castable while casting. Beyond that I think our utility spell CDs are just kinda too long across the board. At least when talking about just getting what exists now in a functional place. Probably also need dispel protection of some kind on the Fire Breath DoT.

There are bigger/broader changes I’d love to see in the long term. The spec is way too RNG-based for starters, but also things like how the empowered spell tiers scale. I’d rather have more charging always be better, potentially combined with them having the Obsidian Mettle effects baseline with Obsidian Mettle also having them make you immune to all CC as well. A full charge is a big ask in arena but you can always release them early if you decide it’s better than cancelling and trying again, and they’d have the support to make it more feasible to position for the cast time first and foremost and mostly having to worry about returning damage rather than also every effect which stops casting. Every other caster has gotten instant spells to combat being interrupted 24/7, but for devokers I’d rather the empowered spells go the opposite direction and have higher positional requirements but be much harder to stop otherwise.

I have been taking time spiral, and usually have to use is pretty selfishly, but it helps against a lot of melee having that extra hover.

I agree pathing bugs with empowered spell, deep breath, and even rescue need to be fixed. I have had rescue at times just refuse to work because of pathing issues.

Some of our utility could definitely have some cd’s reduced. Our root is kind of a joke, alot of classes and specs have a root break, and generally on a lower cd than landslide is even if you take the reduced cd/increased game to break talent for it (it still breaks on almost anything).

Honestly, one change I would just really like is for the fire breath dot to have some kind dispel protection.

Yeah the Rescue pathing bug is pure cancer.

I was using Time Spiral but I swapped to the anti-melee build Shamblewing talked about in a post yesterday or the day before. It takes the CD reduction on Wing Buffet and the talent that increases the knockback range and adds a slow, and from that position you can choose between Time Spiral and Tailwind and I’ve found the latter more useful.
