Why does it matter what another person has if it doesn’t directly impact you. The conversation can go both ways.

Can we talk about how dumb it is that the world scales with your ilvl?

As a kinda mid-tier player who generally doesn’t support the idea of low-end content providing high-end rewards (but slower) because I feel like it makes my effort less meaningful…

… I still get why low-end players want better gear. Progression is the name of the game when it comes to MMORPG endgame. If you’re not getting stronger, there’s very little reason to do anything. It’s not like grinding the same handful of world quests or daily quests 7 times a week is fulfilling content all on its own. It’s because it’s leading somewhere that people do it, I’d imagine. At least for the most part.

Even if someone doesn’t want to participate in higher-end group content (or doesn’t have the time to), they’re still going to want to feel like they’re making progress on their character.

The lower the rewards they’re capped at with the content they do, the faster they get bored and move on or force themselves to keep interested by repeating the process on another character.

I can understand that.

I’ll probably always disagree with those players on what’s “acceptable” as an endpoint for such content though. I think making the jump to harder content needs to mean something, and the more overlap there is between that content and world/solo/casual content, the less it means.

I know but I’m too lazy to make a new one every month

I am casual, play like 2, maybe 3 hours every couple days. More on weekends.
Still managed to get everything i wanted done.

I think its more about solo players with social issues that demand this kind of thing.

Fair enough. I recently ran through the venthyr campaign on my 223 DK alt. Just pulled everything & killed it. Can get to 225 easily with Korthia gear (without any rep) & world drops. If it’s your main then you can get much higher with Korthia rep.

As a fellow casual, I would like to know this as well.

I have read hundreds of posts on the subject and have yet to see any explanation that does not boil down to: ‘Because I want it.’

Which is not a convincing argument in my world.

(Unless I am the person saying it, of course :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:.)

This discussion has been started multiple times. My opinions have been that the highest level content should reward the best gear but casuals should have access to gear that is comparable. (Aside from PvP, PvP gear should be equal from the bottom up)

Casuals want better gear because it’s something to work towards and they like seeing things blow up faster.

then they should attempt normal raiding the bare minimum then?

normal mode raiding is also casual… its literally the same thing as LFR, you just have to pay attention more

I’m a very casual player and I have no need for high end gear.

Just give me enough to do questing, and some dailies and I’m good. lol

I have no need of high gear if I’m not doing high gear content. I do not need gear for mythic + if I don’t do mythic + for example.

Because I enjoy the journey.

Casuals need better gear so that they can solo old raid bosses.

That said, if M+ players only want it in game for fun and test skill, then why do they need it to reward gear?

they do have ideal gear, called Korthia 233 gear and soon whatever Zereth Mortis offers

Yeah but that isn’t gonna kill G’huun
