i unsubbed as well. I was very clear about why - needless torghast buffs, raid loot drop nerfs, the general feeling that content exists only to cater to high end mythic raiders. if they fix it, ill be happy to return. if they dont… well, i guess shadowlands will go the same way bfa did for me, where i barely last a month and never return until the next expansion, if i do at all.
Ugh. I hate all reactive mechanics lol. Cant there be like a sneaky slow based strategy game out there haha
See ya, have a good holiday!
You mentioned not enjoying grinding out story, so does the RPG aspect of MMOs not appeal to you?
That’s why I healed! But yes, weaving can be daunting but isn’t terribly hard to manage once you get the hang of it. There is a lot of content in ESO besides the trials/dungeons for the more casual players though.
Grinding out things to me doesn’t mean jam all the buttons to clear content. I don’t mind mindlessly killing 300 of things to see story progress I just hate Dark Soul type mechanics. Like I’m a clutz I’m not great there I quit Jedi on the easiest difficulty because I was like man this is just too hard for me
I agree there is a lot of content there without ever stepping foot in a raid.
Alright everyone. Take care! You’ll be missed…
(and we’ll see you when the next content patch comes out)
Kinda, but there is content where you cna be slow and win.
Ya thats a big turn off.
Subjective, anyway if you didnt find it fun it is simple not fun.
If you are a story person mmos are terrible honestly, be it wow, eso or ffxiv the story isnt on par with single players mmos.
This is true i don’t see many slow paced games anymore outside mobiles.
I’m sure there is
All good things come to end at some point. such is life.
15 years from now these people will be crying about the new people ruining wow with all it’s new systems.
That’s an excellent post, and I feel most of it.
There just isn’t much to do any more that one can go and just do, without being Amazon-style metric-ified.
Making an alt and reading the quest lore is a great time sink tbh. But you know where eventually it leads
If you’re more interested in the solo/story aspect of the game, you might try FF14. The main story is a long road that takes you to max level, honestly just like playing any other final fantasy game, but you also run dungeons and stuff along the way. Much more laid back than WoW, folks are generally more helpful, and the combat is slower because their GCD is longer. You end up with a fun and somewhat involved rotation by the time you hit max level.
The art style and everything isn’t for everyone though, just thought I’d suggest it.
I might try that out.
Uh oh. You said the double F-word. Prepare for the barrage of hate (to be honest, I enjoyed it when I played - just not as much as any of the single-player FF’s)
Sorry to lose you, man.
All the best!
Don’t let the short potato race turn you away. We know they’re weird, they know they’re weird.
Yeah I know, I’m used to it by now lol
I typically roll my eyes at threads about quitting WoW but this was actually thoughtfully written and felt genuine. Well done, OP, you’ve written the Stairway to Heaven of quitting threads.
Granted I don’t agree with a lot of it but it feels like the OP is being reasonable and truthful, as well as leaving the door open to trying again in a few months.
To all of you who post topics about quitting WoW: this is how to do it. I won’t remember the whiny, angry posts. But I will remember this one.
To the OP: it sounds like you are doing the right thing with putting the game down for a while. Best of luck and hopefully you find your way back into enjoying WoW at some point.
PS: Keep your gold and stuff, you may need it later
I’ve been in the MMO space since EQ I know the rage quitters about gear and what not.
Like I’ve always said gear and shines don’t matter. Raiders do need that gear to clear harder content and their reward should be greater because the difficulty is harder.
There are things that in my age now with MMOs that I’ve come to notice that when I was in college I would be vigorously against but now that I’m older I’m like ya know what if the changes were made the younger version of me still would’ve played and it wouldn’t make one difference to him.
Elitism and Gatekeeping are as old as time in these games. Gaming in general still has a lot to sort when it comes to attitudes toward minorities, women, and other underrepresented groups but that’s another topic.
MMOs I just think are kind of this weird genre now. So much of their lunch money has been taken by MOBAs because of the ease of playing, the consistency, and the time it takes to get right into it. MMOs kind of have this slow burn but the mechanics of gameplay are almost identical. Seriously if you remove creeps from Smite what’s the diff between WoW Arenas and Smite besides abilities? Wow just lumps multiple hero’s into classes and smite breaks them out as separate that’s really it. Same mechanics though.
