So, I’m Curious

How long have you been playing WoW for?
16 years. Started in the same patch that released the Exciting New Dungeon: Maraudon.

Which was your first expansion, and which expansion is your favourite?
Favorite was TBC, and then Wrath, but it’s pretty close.
I liked WoD too, but probably only because I played it for 5 months and stopped for family reasons so I didn’t experience a real content draught until SL.

Favourite class and role?
I really liked playing a Metamorphosis Warlock in WOTLK.
Currently training myself to be a better feral druid.

Favourite raid boss?
Mechanically: Teron Gorefiend. That was a very unique fight with mechanics the game hadn’t included up until then, and was probably the working prototype for adding Vehicles in WOTLK.
Fun: Leotheras the Blind. I got to lock tank him and that was pretty great.

What keeps you here?
Sunken cost fallacy. Hope that SL improves. Nostalgia.
I ran the WoW tabletop RPG for about 10 years, but we stopped recently because SL and BFA killed my groups love of WoW.
Of my online circle of friends were now all mainly playing FF instead of SL.

Over 15 years.
Vanilla was my first expansion. Legion is my current favorite expansion.
Druid / Tank.
Haven’t raided in a long time so can’t really say.
I stay because the game provides a few hours of entertainment each week.

Started with Vanilla, BC, WoTLK - parts of Legion and Cata. Came back for Shadowlands.

Wrath of the Lich King was my favorite.

Paladin tank.

I enjoyed the bosses in Ulduar, can’t really pick just one. That whole raid was very well done.

Currently, M+ and climbing the leaderboard.

Three years actually playing over the course of twelve years

Wrath was my first, WoD was my favorite

Demon Hunter, DPS

Whichever raid boss is easy to solo and has nice rewards

Usually ERP

Good on ya!

Started in vanilla.
Legion is my favorite expansion.
Favorite healer is mistweaver monk, and favorite DPS is beast master hunter.
Favourite raid boss is deathwing.
What keeps you here? I play every class, so it just takes a lot of time which I don’t have much of. So I usually try to get a couple of toons into M+ and perhaps heroic raiding, then just get the others up to maybe LFR level. I like the escape to another reality and WOW is my favorite video game.

The entire time. I started in beta.

Does vanilla count? I think my favorite expansion was a tie between BC and early wrath, pre LFD. Blizzard (either through luck or intuition) knew that content mattered more than anything else. There was tons to do every time you logged in, and you didn’t fall behind if you took some time off, because you could always catch up.

This has changed a lot over the years. I like tanking, Pre-active mitigation, and dps after that point. DK is my favorite class, tied with Druid.

This one is hard, because there are so many, but I think Yogg-Saron, Lich King, and Illidan are all up there for me. Any given day they can trade the top spot.

$7k worth of sunk cost and 16 years of experience. Wow has been “my game” for most of my adult life. I’m passionate about it, even if I don’t like the direction it’s currently going.

I’ve been playing since vanilla beta.
Beastmaster hunter is my favorite character.
Don’t raid much so I don’t have a favorite boss.
Favorite expansion was BFA
I play still because I’m retired and it’s cheap entertainment.

Since TBC Pre patch, Rogue until SL, Ulduar, M+

I’ve been playing on/off since BC. I missed Wrath and Cata entirely, played Pandaria, missed WoD, played Legion, BFA, and SL. Legion was the best, hands down, though I know ppl rly enjoyed Wrath.

I love hunters and priests, basically any ranged class, I guess. My first character was a blood elf hunter, and I’m always MM.

My favorite raid boss so far is Denathrius… like, holy crap, what an encounter. :flushed: Outta left field for what the rest of SL has been, it’s like they put all their good ppl on Revendreth, and the rest of the xpac got the B-team.

And what’s keeping me here are RP servers, and the lore/my favorite characters. I am not having a good lore time this xpac. If anything happens to Anduin, I promise you I will unsub for life. If I find out they make us kill him, I won’t even login for that. It’s just over. :pensive:

Played since vanilla. Legion spriest was the best class ever invented. Za’qul is my all time favorite raid boss

Started with Vanilla about a month before BC launched. Took a 8 year break because my job demanded 90% of a weeks time.

Then I got sick…really sick requiring a lot of hospital stays. Left me very disabled and to this day I do not walk very well and I ache all the time.

Came back last August to find all my old characters missing in action. I still do not know where they went and I have giving up on Blizzard trying to find them.

I remember MoP being my fav expansion and the last one I actually played.

I still quest there from time to time.

Wrath Feb '09 Favorite as well. I loved Wrath.

Hunter…Survival at that time. Now it’s BM

Lich King

Lately it’s a struggle to log in. I think it’s a combination of burn out and SL.

Started in bfa 8.2. I liked eternal palace for a raid. Druid is my favorite class. I stay because of my guild.

idk
when was the wrath prepatch again? that long
technically speaking bc was my first, but it was during wrath’s prepatch and i didnt really have any sort of clue what i was doing so i don’t really count it
mop, by far, was my favorite expansion because the pvp was some of the best i have ever experienced, and remains so even now
my favorite class/spec is an arms warrior, and tbh, nazgrim is my favorite raid boss
rip daddy nazgrim, he’s not the same anymore :sob::sob::sob::sob:

I started in the second season of BC but i didn’t really know what i was doing

In wrath is when i started pvp and within a few months after wotlk release i was already close 300 AV wins. Thats really what started my liking of wow

Mop was my favourite expansion and season 15 is the first time i did rated content because i wanted the elite set, and the first expansion i did world content and endgame content like getting legendary cloak and timeless isle

I’ve mained a holy paladin since cata and havent played another class or spec since and don’t intend to

Unrated pvp is why i still play wow because i like being able to just queue pvp without an organized group and without needing to be on comms with people i don’t like

Started in Pandaria.
Favorite Expansion is hard to answer.

I really like Pandaria, I really liked WoD while it had relevant content to do. I Loved Legion, and I’m enjoying shadowlands so far.

Brewmaster Monk Tank. From Legion Onwards.
Prot Warrior Before that.

King Rastakhan For Mechanics
High Tinker Mekkatorque For Design
Ursoc For making me cry.
Can’t choose between those 3.

I LOVE Tanking in Mythic Plus and Raids.
And I live every day, hoping that one day we’ll get a Tinker Class with a Tank spec in a Shredder.
I would play this game until I’m old and grey If I got a Tinker Class.

Since Dec. 8th 2004. Vanilla, Favorite play style my BM Hunter, Illidan, Addiction to a fantasy land keeps me here.

All I know is I started sometime in the original TBC. Life wasn’t that good back then so I don’t have an exact date.

It is a toss up between TBC, Wrath and MoP. I like them for different things and well I am not good at picking fav’s.

Hunter but I prefer healing. I just can’t get into healing post Wrath pve.

I don’t really have that many memerabile raid bosses. Boss wise single player games come to mind.

Questing. This game is very fun to play while I am writing. All other games that I try pull to much of my attention and I have to choose between working for more time then I want to or playing for hours and neglecting my work.

Eh, like a little over 11 and a half years, I suppose?

I first played in TBC, but it was only for 4 months. I don’t remember the timeframe as a date, but sometime in those 4 months is when mounts went from level 40 to level 30, so I’m sure one could find a patch date with that information.

But realistically I started in earnest in mid-late WotLK, 2010. New account, paying for it myself (I was still young then), and the one I’m still playing on now.

Like I said, technically TBC, realistically WotLK.

But I technically didn’t actually -own- the current expansion until Cata. So in that sense, I could say Cata.

In hindsight, just looking at what the expansions offered, probably MoP, at least after the daily hell that was 5.0.

In terms of how much I enjoyed it AT THE TIME, probably Cata, since it was my first time playing endgame content. I distinctly remember running dungeons just for fun after I no longer needed them for anything. You wouldn’t catch me doing that today. Not in the same way.

I miss a lot of the systems from WotLK that got gutted/removed/changed in the name of accessibility and convenience, and I remember my time from then fondly, but I was so inexperienced and I only had the base game, so I don’t feel like I can rate it fairly.

Shaman, specifically Elemental if I had to choose a spec, but I’ve always been willing to play offspecs.

I wouldn’t say I have a favorite role. Shaman is my go-to class and I tend to favor Elemental, but even so, I wouldn’t say DPS is my favorite role. I like them all. Maybe let’s say a tie between DPS and Healing, with Tanking trailing behind slightly. But I still like Tanking.

Lei Shen from ToT. Probably the best raid encounter in the entire game tbh. It was fun even in LFR (but, yes, I also raided Normal (now Heroic)).

Habit?

I spent roughly 8 months subbed but never logging in during BfA (in 8.3 alone), and I haven’t done anything of note in Shadowlands since February.

I don’t hate the game, but I get less mileage out of it than I used to. Not sure how much of that is because of the game’s current design vs just me getting tired of it. Probably a bit of both.

In any case, I like the MMORPG genre, WoW is still one of the best options in it, and I like the Universe this game takes place in even if I don’t care for most of the front-and-center storylines and have issues with the direction endgame design and class design have ended up.

I should really be a much more cyclical subscriber, but I haven’t actually made the switch to doing that yet. I guess I prefer wasting money on a game I’m not really playing “just in case”.

Hi Curious! I’m Nocht.
