I was the only one using the skipper. Everyone else that had a ring was using Runed
I use the 2 heals and the absorb shield. Can be lazier with that combo. The stats are boring and mastery isnât the best thing in the world for Disc. Plus theyâre bugged so thereâs that.
Yeah idk. People are gonna learn pretty quick to just run skipper always in group content.
Especially on healers and tanks, because itâs a gem that directly buffs your dps.
The difference between a 619 and a 636 ring is also ~2% or less. That doesnât mean you never bother replacing rings. Thatâs just what you get when upgrading any non-weapon slot.
The new ring is free, guaranteed, and very easy to get. Itâs already the best option for most specs. What other benefit are you trying to hold out for, want it to do your laundry too?
People like to complain. They also like to pretend that their imaginary sim numbers are going to reflect what they actually do when in reality they lose more dps from scratching their nose mid fight than they do from any piece of non-weapon/trinket upgrade they get
Whilst this is true, I also donât see any value in not using the best stuff you have available.
It is BiS for Outlaw Rogue at max ilvl and is damn near BiS for it even right now. Outlaw Rogue absolutely despises Mastery, and the ring is still BiS for it, because Outlaw can just swap out the Mastery gem for one of the DPS gems instead.
Itâs also BiS for tanks and healers. Some tanks even run the Mastery gem still, but the ones that donât just run a DPS gem instead.
Like, the ring is quite literally BiS for every single spec in the game at max ilvl and is an upgrade for almost everyone, sans one or two extremely specific specs, right now at only 642 ilvl.
Did you run the 10 with the same four people as always?
Regardless youâve made up your mind, you wonât let something as silly as math change your mind so I wonât argue anymore with someone who really isnât looking to discuss or open to changing their mind.
I think most people are reasonable enough to admit that they donât play perfectly, especially when avoiding mechanics but that doesnât change the fact that if the ring is an increase mathematically itâs an increase mathematically.
I just told someone I was done discussing it with them though and I actually think Iâm done talking about it altogether. People can run what they want it impacts me not at all.
It is bugged but obtainable by doing one of a couple tricks when killing him. Iâve got all of the gems from him on a few characters at this point. Itâs a bit annoying, but there are work arounds.
Also since I actually did some dungeons tonight, I got to test the ring out on my tank. Doing two damage proc gems and skipperâs, it was ~9% of my damage averaged across 4 M+ dungeons. I know damage procs tend to be stronger on tanks than dps in general, but thatâs still respectable, not to mention any other defensive/healing/buffs the skipperâs gave.
Iâll be running some dungeons on my warlock tonight, but the stat gems sim stronger so far, which are harder to parse I suppose. Iâll see how the runs go though.
Yup it took a few failed attempts but I got all gems on my main then just bought the ones I wanted for my alts
I donât disagree at all.
Iâm with you. Itâs more the people arguing against the ring that causes me headaches. Even if they simmed lower (which I doubt) itâs not going to impact them in any meaningful way unless theyâre missing a haste breakpoint.
Couldnât tell you exactly because I donât do content that Snozay approves of, but I would say my character feels much better to play with the BiS gems even in my trivial content. The gems before felt so much worse. I didnât even notice the noob gems they gave us. What even was the proc chance on the burst damage? It felt awful kind of like nothing was equipped except for a higher ilvl with stamina lol.
My real serious question is does this thing work in Mage Tower and how is the scaling? Now may be the time to try it out for anyone looking to finish any of those challenges as it may be nutso in there, or it could be worthless LOL
Why did they bring this ring back? As i recall it was kind of a bust last time. Once everyone got their best combos they nerfed several of the gems and people were unhappy. Why make players unhappy?
I suspect it has something to do with the fact that this ring shaves off secondary stats so they have more to work with for a while in balancing.
Itâs a free ring thatâs an upgrade across the board. No complaints and Blizzard did a stellar job with it.
Hats off to them for also being swift with removing the time gating (though currently bugged).
My main and alts are happy.
i think this should be emphasized because iâm not sure everyone knows it works this way.
you only need to get the gems to drop once per warband. after that you can just buy them on all your alts at 50 islandcoins per gem
Side note: While the gems are warband bound, the vendor unlock is not - so you need to buy them on the character that originally completed the events for the gems.
