So I’ve never paid for a boost, and I don’t intend to. I am curious however, just how much faster it is. Assuming you had an endless stream of gold, how long does it take someone boosting their way exclusively to 60?
I’m just curious, because to me i’ve always felt like leveling was already super fast. Is it more for the convenience of being able to just watch Netflix while someone else levels you, or is it because it is strictly faster?
In general, how many hours of /played time do you spend leveling to 60 versus boosting to 60?
Assuming you do the dead level one in party mob tagging trick and have good boosters carrying you the whole way it should be between 1 and 2 days played less if your crew is god tier.
When someone does that, do they just wind up level 60 with no reputation with any factions (except maybe ZG)?
Its alot faster through boosting.
Though when I’m leveling alts in Classic, I generally quest and buy a boost once for a dungeon from a guildie for the quest rewards. And usually I only buy a boost when a dungeon has 4+ quest like Stockades. Though on my Paladin I did buy a few SM Armory boosts for Ravager.
Its just a pain to try to find people to do low level dungeons now. (A looking for group layout like Retails Pre-Made group finder (this doesn’t TP you to the dungeon or anything) would be nice in Classic, Wille did a good video on that recently).
Boosting can give over 100k xp per hour. That’s a max of 2 hours for a level. ZG boosts may be even better than that. Levels in the 50s were taking more than twice that long for me on this character.
I’m curious about this. It sounds farcical, but would like to know more. If a level one is in the party then I am not sure how he would ‘tag’ anything since its a group. If he is not in the party I don’t see how a level 1 could tag anything above lets say… level 6. Even if a level 1 somehow managed to tag a higher level mob, I’m not sure how that ends up with your alt getting xp.
This phrase has unleashed a fury of questions in my brain… must… have more info!
I did boost once and it seemed like about 2.3 lvls an hour With rest at lvl 43 to 45 my pally alt.
Prolly 2 days played or less for 60. Assuming all runs go perfectly and gold’s not an issue.
Typically SM, Mara, and ZG boosts all provide 100k (or more) exp per hour. With the added benefit of getting to one place and not having to leave for ~10 levels.
As an added bonus, you can do this while basically afk, working, doing something else irl or even in another game. Just take one minute to loot/pay/reset every 10-15 minutes and you’re good to go.
When I was leveling my Shaman alt the normal way, my friend boosted his druid, I think he started when I was in my mid-30s in level and ended when I was 52. No idea what his /played time was vs mine during the same window.
It’s pretty much about 100k/hr all the way from SM to Zg. Maura can be a little better if you get a good 300 puller can be as high as 120-150k/hr.
Umm yea… No one is doing it in 1-2 days played, much less fewer… Cool story tho
Yall realize the world record, involving thousands in consumables, the coordination of multiple people and a very specific route still took just barely under 2 days /played. The 2nd best took 2 and a half. Your average boostee def isnt doing it in under 3 days

You can do UD strat runs (the better deal but less popular) for AD rep and Zg/coin turning for Zandalar. I ended up honored with Zg and halfway to revered with Ad, but I did almost all strat runs. Most of my Zg rep was just coin turn-ins
What about just basic racial rep? Or are players who boost like that so gold-saturated they don’t care about paying full price for everything?
not sure on how the specifics work(s)(ed) but essentially how it worked was that if a low lvl player tagged something and a hunter/warlock pet killed it you could give the low level player 100% of the xp for the kill even though the hunter pet did 99% of the dmg and the hunter pet can kill ALOT faster than a low level player.
You only need Honored for the discount which you can pretty much get just doing the 1-20 quests, or you can buy your way through the couple thousand rep needed for real cheap. If you ever want to push for exalted it’ll be a lot more since even doing the quests at 60 wont net you the same rep, but still probably worth since you can always just farm the gold at 60 and buy the rep with cloth turn-ins
Even if that works, using even a level 60 hunter pet to power level is still going to be much slower than a mage mass pulling 100 elites at a time.
Its used for lvl 1-15 chars before you start doing dungeon spams.
it is much faster than the character just leveling themselves.
Yea I suppose that makes sense. Leveling to 15 is so fast anyway though seems almost not worth the effort. I suppose if you’re really looking to max your leveling speed I could see it
