PSA: If older content contains something that you want, then by definition it is not irrelevant to you.
Along that same train of thought, if the only content you play (i.e. mythics, raids, pvp) doesn’t allow flying anyway, then what exactly is the problem with not having flying to do that content you don’t do anyway a little easier?
I imagine the only value would come from leveling alts, but then why wouldn’t you just level through dungeons?
That’s because we were doing it while it was current.
It’s quite different doing it in old, largely irrelevant content that you’re racing through so you can join your friends.
Want to know why I haven’t gone back and done any dungeons or raids? Because I’m not about to spend more time traveling via the ground then I would doing (seeing) the content.
IF PF is actually about gating the game, then its pretty stupid to gate old content.
Their point in these changes is to get us to CURRENT content fast…Pathfinder aint gonna do that, lol.
So we level thru WoD at lightning speed, but then have to spend a month rep grinding for PF anyway, lol? Yeah…THATS going to encourage new players to rush into the current game.
its counter productive to have PF in ANY old expansion with what they are trying to do with these leveling changes in SLs.
well, unless they do like allied races and remove the idiotic rep grinds and just do the little zone questlines that dont take so long. That actually would make PF at least workable since we’d be doing that stuff anyway while leveling
To be fair this is a line of reason that doesn’t actually pan out over the long run for a lot of things.
Come Shadowlands both Allied Races and Flying are currently set to have no requirements. Allied Races will just be free to use with no requirements, with no benefits to anyone who did it manually in the past. Pathfinder doesn’t even make sense with the level squish, and flying is coming about halfway through the process just by level.
Earning it like everyone else is really more of a “for right now” than a “because we did it and so should you” in WoW.
How about removing the rep requirement from pathfinder for at least WoD? 2 xpacs old now!
Also, why didn’t they extend the rep buff to WoD reps too?? Legion and BFA were included likely to help people get caught up on stuff like PF. Why not give it to WoD too? Get all the PF’s in one buff.
Nah, I just don’t think they should remove it, ever. Stop being lazy or stop being cheap. There is a 100% rep buff right now and you can get your Pathfinder just by spending easily obtained gold:
Ah yes the old I did it, so should you argument. Gosh I did the epic mount grind for months in classic back in '05, so everyone should have to grind for months for that first Epic mount right? Hydraxion Waterlord rep should be mandatory to get past classic because I had to do it to progress. That’s only fair. The game should never change to reflect the current reality.
There should be two options gold per toon and Pathfinder for account wide unlock (and a mount perk if applicable). The content in WoD is not relevant even with the weak argument that if you actively playing it, that it somehow is. All gating flying behind Pathfinder does at this point is ensure I’m not likely to help anyone leveling there because it’s unnecessarily tedious and time consuming. It’s dead content, knock off this nonsense that everyone should do a time sink because you did when it was current.
THere are a large number of people who did it and have no problem with it being lowered or even removed from old content and possibly having what ever the current Pathfinder is open past Pathfinders.
Not all of us have the childish attitude of I had to do it so do you .
Right there with you. I totally understand it being a thing for current content, maybe even 1 xpac back, but 2 should be available with a reduced effort or gold.
I’d be spending time in those old zones catching up on stuff I missed when I took a break if it didn’t suck so much on ground mounts. But since it does, I’m more likely to log off and do something else during that time.
I think with the level squish and the “pick your expansion” approach to leveling, this is a valid question.
It is going to be kind of weird to hit level 25 and half the expansions (TBC, WotLK, MoP) you can fly no questions asked, but the other half of the expansion options (WoD, Legion, BFA) you have to unlock flying through numerous tasks, which honestly, you probably won’t bother with because you’ll likely hit 50 long before you finish them all.
