The only, sole reason why I can envision that they don’t want to make HC TBC is because some of the raids have death mechanics, or because… idk. The only example I can think of, off the top of my head, is Teron Gorefiend, where you have to die to do the boss fight. THIS, however, is not really an excuse, rather a cop out. There are easy enough work arounds to solve these problems. I was really excited when I thought that HC TBC was becoming a thing… and with it not, is very much a gigantic let down.
Teron Gorefiend has a death mechanic, good luck ever clearing heroic blood furnace, good luck with brutallus, btw most guilds I’ve ever raided with choose to simply not heal burn targets and soulstone the person instead of spending the mana to heal them, so you’ll just never clear brutallus.
Shade of Aran in Kara is perfectly capable of wiping your raid. The trash in kara is perfectly capable of wiping your raid, did you guys forget about the skeleton mages before opera? That freeze the tank and clear their threat table? Yeah I’ve seen those 1 shot healers before.
Nightbane in Kara who, when I had pre-raid bis, would 1 shot me if demo shout wasn’t up and he hit me while I didn’t have shield block up for any reason.
How about t5, vashj and kt. KT has a neat mechanic where he puts down a flamestrike that one shots you, and he also has a mechanic that teleports you, so you can be teleported into said 1 shot, and die instantly. Vashj poison
TBC HC sounds like a good idea, and then you finish leveling, and there’s no further progression to be had because you’re making a new group after every pull.
Blizzard knows best. Remember - we think we wanted Classic Era but we really didn’t
Sir - the average death level is level 11. I don’t think any of this stuff matters. Hardcore isn’t about completionism. It’s about playing the game and dying a permanent death.
TBC Hardcore, pretty much just makes the leveling process longer. There is very little reason to do any of the LV60 content with TBC. You are going to avoid MC, BWL, AQ20/40, ZG, Naxx. The increased risk of death in all of those raids, makes it not worth the risk, when the gear is quickly replaced by questing greens from 58-70.
And that just increases the time it takes to “Go Again.” Wiping at max level is tough. And knowing you have to do the 1-60 grind over is tough. But, now its 1-70. This fails to mention that in TBC, there are several dungeon and raid encounter with 1 shot mechanics. There is a good amount that needs to be changed.
Now I would be interested in potentially seeing a Time Lock implemented. When you are walking through the Dark Portal, you are given a choice. Do you lock your character’s Vanilla Progress? If you select yes, you can venture into outland, and when you die, you start at 60, in a starter set of green gear, with 10 gold and nothing else. Everything that was on your char when it died, is gone. But, you get to start at 60, entering into TBC. All access to vanilla dungeons and raids becomes locked.
Or potentially, just have a TBC Hardcore Server, where chars start at 60, with a starter set of greens, 10g, 10 slot bags, and then go. When you pick a profession, the skill is the Vanilla cap, with only the basic recipes learned.
But neither is likely or really even that desirable. Having Hardcore through TBC, just doesnt make sense to me. It changes the grind to just play it safe to 70, then start doing things.
If this is the route, It would have to be more of a progression thing., but it would pretty effectively kill Classic HC.
No, this is not so. Levelling time 1-60 in Classic/Vanilla and 1-70 in TBC takes roughly the same amount of /played - if anything 1-70 in TBC is a bit faster.
No thanks, this would undo the whole Go again idea of HC.
No, no, no!!!
Just give TBC Hardcore, and make Teron Gorefiend not kill - like with the kill-Quests in Classi.
Then is there any reason you need 10 more levels? If most people can’t even reach 60 (in infinitely easier content than TBC’s). Do you not think perhaps the issue is you haven’t challenged yourself enough for the already available content?
It’s really not the 10 more levels, it’s the new races, the new starter zones and high level zones that’s fun about BC.
Don’t forget some great QoL changes to Classes/Specs via Talents!
Its also about knowing that HC will be moving forward, that they have a plan beyond just vanilla. Knowing that HC is locked in to the same game forever…
We don’t know, but yes it would be nice to know where the servers - all of them - are going to stop this time around … will we get Era servers, or will we again be forced onwards (to Cata and beyond) … because if the latter it’s a huge No thanks from me.
Personally yes. I think you should be required to level in Classic and clear Naxx before going through the Dark Portal into TBC. Will the for-profit guys at Blizz be on board with this? No.
Your ideas are so bad you should consider never posting again.
Brilliant, they will put the effort in to add TBC and then make it available to like 1-200 people on the server.
Why should we be forced to do dungeons/raids to level? No thanks. I LOVE levelling, but I prefer not to do instanced contents.
Actually the IronMan way of doing things = No groups, no dungeons.
Dear Blizzard Team,
As dedicated members of the Hardcore community, we deeply appreciate the challenges and experiences that the 1-60 journey in WoW Classic offers. However, many of us feel that the Hardcore experience could be even more exhilarating and rewarding if extended into the Burning Crusade Classic expansion.
Why TBC Hardcore?
Enhanced Challenge: TBC introduces new zones, dungeons, and raids that could provide a fresh and more challenging environment for Hardcore players. The increased difficulty and complexity of TBC content would test our skills and resilience in new ways.
Community Demand: There is a significant portion of the Hardcore community eager to experience TBC content under Hardcore rules. Many players have expressed their desire for this progression, highlighting the enthusiasm and commitment of the community.
Preserving the Spirit: While TBC introduces new mechanics and challenges, the core spirit of Hardcore permanent death and the thrill of the journey remains intact. With thoughtful adjustments, TBC content can be tailored to maintain the Hardcore experience.
Addressing Concerns:
We understand that there are concerns about the increased difficulty and randomness in TBC content. However, we believe that with careful planning and community feedback, these challenges can be managed to ensure a fair and engaging experience for Hardcore players.
Conclusion:
We respectfully request that Blizzard consider the introduction of TBC Hardcore servers. The Hardcore community is passionate and dedicated, and we are eager to continue our journey through the rich and challenging content that TBC offers. Please, Blizzard, give us the opportunity to experience TBC Hardcore we want it so bad!
i kinda would like BC HC mode but they say that TBC has alot of cheap mechanics that will surely kill people their first go around…its designed that way
Exactly this.
Everyone smoothes over them in their memory because the expansion was so good, but there are A LOT of cheap one shot mechanics in TBC, especially in the endgame. The kind of one shot mechanics you don’t get to respond to.
So while I’m enjoying HC more than retail currently, I completely understand where Blizzard is coming from and I wholeheartedly agree with them. TBC and later expansions are best experienced on Classic Prog and SoD servers and HC should maintain its roots in Vanilla.
HC’s roots were never Vanilla As one of the OG IronMan crew I played No-death mode since Cata - this expansion, whith faceroll easy levelling made us look for extra challenges.
When Classic rolled out we were a small bunch doing the challenge once again from 2019 onwards – yes also in TBC and Wrath The lack of API (and worse, manpower) did not allow it to be the mass experience it once was. And then the streamers / HC-addon crew grasped the idea … the rest is history.
So please, Blizz, give us the chance of playing HC in TBC on a dedicated server this time around!
Ironman isn’t HC, and frankly it’s too easy to fudge your runs in retail for me to buy anything you’re saying.
That said, as long as they keep HC Prog completely separated from the current Vanilla-based HC I wouldn’t care. Have fun beating your head against Black Temple. Just don’t drag those of us wanting the Vanilla experience with you.
