I plan on maining Druid again for MoP, and was wondering which spec to go for CM’s. My hope is to get at least one set before MoP is over. So for anyone who remembers what was meta back then, what would y’all suggest?
rdruid was by far the easiest for me when i did them (just imo)

I’ll have to try that. My guild has a bunch of dedicated heals and tanks, but it doesn’t hurt to offspec it. I’m mainly trying to decide between Feral and Balance, however, I will think about using Resto if a spot in my guild opens up.
I just want that set so bad :o

Yeah, I know. But I want to make sure I pick the spec that people would want. I don’t know if my guild will run them with me or not, and I don’t want to invest in an off-meta spec that would have a harder time getting invited.
Normally, being off meta doesn’t bother me a whole lot, but this being my first time going into them, I want best possible chance for gold rating.
So many specs were good in MoP - and monks as a new class varied a lot depending on which patch - from top tier to not so good.
Resto druid was great, we had a paladin tank and a warlock (destro or demo), a frost mage and an arms warrior. But not sure there was a stand out meta because so many classes were good. There was a big variation in difficulty in the dungeons - 3 or 4 were pretty easy, two were really tough for us. You do need to invest in the right consumables (invisibility potions in particular) - I’m sure there are old guides still around.
Class-Specific Breakdown: Here’s a list of the most desirable specs for each class and key abilities/talents you may not typically use but should consider. These are regarded as the most valuable specs at item level 463, particularly for players with less experience. That said, this isn’t to discourage trying your preferred spec — but these are usually the go-to specs for Gold runs.
Priest:
Best Spec: Discipline
Key Abilities:
- Pain Suppression, Spirit Shell, Barrier, Void Shift, Mass Dispel — these are crucial for keeping the group alive.
- Divine Star can contribute solid damage in tightly packed trash groups.
- Spectral Guise is a game-changer — it allows you to drink or rez in combat, or dodge cast-time abilities. It’s basically like a rogue’s vanish with a 30-second cooldown.
Warlock:
Best Spec: Destruction
Key Abilities:
- Shadowfury is vital due to its short cooldown for AoE stuns.
- Warlocks also bring Combat Rez, which is a big asset, and Grimoire of Sacrifice can allow for a customizable interrupt, friendly dispel, or knockback.
Mage:
Best Spec: Frost
Key Abilities:
- Frost Orb and Glyphed Ice Lance spam are fantastic for trash.
- Ring of Frost can be useful for AoE stuns, though it breaks on damage.
- As one of the two classes with Bloodlust, Frost Mages are a top-tier DPS choice for both AoE and single-target damage at 463.
Rogue:
Best Spec: Assassination (based on advice, though more feedback is welcome)
Key Abilities:
- Dismantle and Smoke Bomb are key utilities.
- Smoke Bomb can force ranged mobs to move closer to melee.
- Shiv can dispel Enrage, which is extremely helpful for certain bosses/mobs.
Druid:
Best Spec: Restoration
Key Abilities:
- Heart of the Wild (for a 6-minute DPS boost on certain bosses)
- Typhoon and Ursoc’s Roar are lifesavers for tanks in critical situations.
- Stampeding Roar helps shave off time between pulls and while using invisibility potions.
- Guardian is also a solid tank spec with decent DPS and strong survivability.
Monk:
Best Spec: Brewmaster
Key Abilities:
- Roll + Keg Toss provides superior mobility for both kiting and positioning.
- Keg Smash and Rising Sun Kick become great damage abilities with high vengeance.
- Brewmasters also bring two AoE stuns and Breath of Fire as an AoE interrupt.
- Windwalkers are good for cleave and have two AoE stuns as well.
Shaman:
Best Spec: Elemental
Key Abilities:
- Chain Lightning and Ascendance Chain Lightning are major sources of AoE damage.
- Bloodlust is a key part of the DPS arsenal.
- You bring additional utility like Totemic Projection (AoE stun), Ancestral Guidance, and Healing Tide Totem.
- You also have the ability to interrupt, hex, and ground spells, making a Shaman incredibly versatile.
Hunter:
Best Spec: Survival (for trash)
Key Abilities:
- Binding Shot is a crucial AoE stun that can help with crowd control.
- Survival Hunters can also switch specs, with Beast Mastery being a top contender for single-target DPS.
- Tranq Shot can be used to remove magic buffs and Enrage effects from certain bosses/mobs.
- Aspect of the Pack can help skip packs with invisibility potions.
Paladin:
Best Spec: Protection or Holy
Key Abilities:
- Blinding Light (Glyphed for AoE stun) is useful, though on a 2-minute cooldown.
- Fist of Justice is great for stuns on high-damage mobs.
- Holy Wrath (with a glyph) stuns elementals, which is handy in places like Scarlet Monastery and Jade Temple.
Warrior:
Best Spec: Protection
Key Abilities:
- Shockwave is a fantastic AoE stun on a 20-second cooldown.
- Spell Reflect can absorb a significant amount of damage.
- Disarm works well on melee-heavy mobs/bosses.
- Mocking Banner simplifies adds during certain fights.
- Charge and Leap help save precious seconds, and Enraged Regen is a great self-heal.
Death Knight:
Best Spec: Frost
Key Abilities:
- Remorseless Winter provides AoE stuns.
- Frost DKs also have an interrupt and a silence, as well as a combat rez.
- Army of the Dead is still useful for DPS (even if it was nerfed).
- Purgatory + Death Pact gives you a huge self-heal and lets you survive even if your healer makes a mistake.
- Dark Simulacrum is a must-use ability that can turn the tide of fights if used well.

i don’t remember what specs are the best but the challenge modes lock you into heroic dungeon ilvl (by lowering the ilvl of the gear you have to match it), so want as many sockets as possible

If everyone’s saying Resto, then I’ll probably give it a try. Anything that would give me and edge would be awesome.
