So far not impressed at all with Ulduar difficulty at all

Last night did my first 10man version of Ulduar and cleared all the way up to Yogg before running out of time. Did hard mode thorim and hard mode council effortlessly.

We attempted the other hard modes, all of which seem doable. Its hard to master it when you only have a few hours on a sunday to do a whole 10 man.

Im not impressed with the difficulty of ulduar. The normal bosses are all tank and spanks and with a buffed item level hard mode flame leviathan will be easy. Ill admit, flame leviathan hard mode seems brutal with naxx item level however thats a tuning problem and not difficulty.

Artificial difficulty is not actual difficulty. Its like playing halo 2 on legendary. Having enemies 2 shot you is not real difficulty. Its just developers scaling damage up. Cheap. Cheesy. I dont consider overtuned bosses to be difficult at all. And flame leviathan, which is directly linked to item level is fake difficulty.

Moreso the entire instance is just overtuned, but its not hard. I expect in the next 2 weeks for my guild to have all the hardmodes on farm except flame leviathan (again because it has fake difficulty and overtuned scaling) and the ONLY somewhat tough fight in the instance (that being hard mode Mimiron).

I am definitely enjoying ulduar though. Its a lot of fun and playing without a dps meter/warcraftlogs has re envigorated my passion for this game. I think ulduar has just enough difficulty to make it engaging but not too easy (like naxx) to put me on the verge of quitting raiding.

Thanks for reading and good luck on loot this week!

It’s wrath of the lich king classic, basically every major complaint you just levied against ulduar have that itch scratched in retail WoW. So not be that guy, but maybe you should just play Dragonflight?

You already made a thread about this. Several in fact.

Yep, Ulduar is definitely undertuned.
Seeing that some guilds cleared in week one…

The intent should have been to make some hard modes impossible to beat with P1 BiS gear imo, so that we get real progression.

If you want to wipe 400 times on a boss while waiting for the worst player in your raid to figure it out, Mythic Raszageth is available for you.

Mythic Vault of the Incarnates too! I mean c’mon we might as well be playing My Little Pony here…

Eh, it’s better for the majority of the players when it is possible but highly difficult to do the fights without much gear from that tier, but the gear gives you the 10-20% performance boost to bridge the skill gap between the top and more mid tier guilds.

Forcing gear requirements for guilds that spend every hour of the PTR practicing fights to kill bosses just makes for a frustrating experience for those that don’t, or aren’t as skilled.

Bro you seriously posting again? Like forreal?

Your guild is 12/54 after the first week. You havent even scraped the surface of Ulduar yet are coming in here for the third time telling us its easy? You barely killed normal bosses without wiping. 10 kills 8 wipes and no attempts at hard mode bosses. LOL

oh but sorry, you spent 6 hours in Ulduar 10 man last night going 12 kills with 22 wipes like we are supposed to be impressed or something. Sounds like it was pretty hard

You really trying to get exposed again for a third time?

The guilds that cleared it week 1 spent hundreds of hours on the PTR and on Pservers doing this.

Those guilds have cleared Ulduar more in the last 3 months than you will in your life. Over and over and over and over again. Theyve probably done Yogg0 150 times if not more.

Its not “undertuned” theyve just done it a billion times.

If you redid Castle Nathria Myhic RWF again right now theyd have it done 50% faster. It would be a complete joke.

Lol at expecting ulduar to be difficult especially 10 man.

That is very true, and not to make their achievement any smaller.
However, in my opinion, something like that shouldn’t be possible.

I like progression, and a gear check is an easy way to implement it. I don’t think it should physically be possible to clear a raid with previous phase gear, even if it is just one or two upgrades for every raid member that make the difference.

But that’s just how I feel :). I know that it is unreasonable to do something like back in the day, where raids where only up on PTR for a couple hours (as people can use private servers), that’s why I’d like to see a forced progression that way.

Lollll super ridiculous post.

“I killed 2 out of 10 HMs in 10man and 0 in 25man. BUT this raid is easy”

Go clear the whole damn thing first then you can come complain.

It’s not about what I cleared or not, it’s about principle.

And I’m not complaining, I would just think that this would give the game some more appeal, at least it would for me.

You are completely ignoring player/group skill with this statement. A very good player in a very good guild with 213 ilvl will do as much or more dps than an average player in a pug at 230 ilvl.

Hey, at least he didn’t lie about clearing 25 man hardmodes without wiping this time around. Progress of a sort.

I am not ignoring skill, I just think that a game should be tuned so that it’s best players can’t clear the content immediately.
I am certainly aware that that may be “too difficult” for for the super casual, but I’m OK with that as I would be OK with it if I’d be struggling.

I disagree. Difficulty seems appropriate. Every guild will be able to clear all normal content. Hard-modes wont be cleared by all guilds. Some guilds will complete some hards modes and struggle with others. And the hardcore community with crush all the content. Imo it’s a great design for the entire community.

LOL TRUE.

That first post was absolutely hilarious.

“Guys we did all HMs no problem with ZERO wipes”… LOL

I think thats impossible though. I dont think its impossible to tune a game to the point where the best players in the world can never beat it without that upgraded raid gear and expect normal guilds to ever have a chance.

I dont think thats possible at all. That means only the best will ever clear and it and the crappy guilds dont stand a chance. Or stat weights are completely off the charts and a +2 str on an item is a few hundred DPS.
