If you’re going to give tanks and healers incentive to run groups by giving them rewards (regardless of the reward, but especially mounts), you might as well let there be dungeon finder.
Player: Queues as tank, with a message of, “I’m not actually a tank”. Goes through dungeon queued as a tank but is actually a DPS. When dungeon ends, player gets a bonus reward because he “queued” as a tank, but actually ran as a DPS.
Is there a limit on how many “tanks” and “healers” can be in a 5-man run? Maybe everyone in the 5-man is a tank or healer, do they all get the bonus reward?
If you want to make sure there’s enough tanks and healers, put in the dungeon finder. This bonus reward is so much more of a “change” than not putting in “dungeon finder”, since this bonus reward was never in Wrath to begin with.
Please either revert this change or add in the dungeon finder. Adding the dungeon finder will at least force a player to be a tank or healer.
Good to know on the first point. For the 2nd point, that’s the current retail situation, whichever role is lacking gets a bonus reward. For the 3rd, it’s a soft enforcement. Sure there will be runs that the other people don’t care, but most of them will not be ok to have the run without a healer, and likely without a tank as well. Those groups will break up.
This is typical Blizzard being obtuse. They are 100% dead set on not putting in a dungeon finder, so they’re adding in a slew of features that never existed in Wrath to begin with. If they keep going this way, the only thing left of Wrath will be the story line.
If you can prove the existence of consistent 4 hour queues during OG wrath, I will like every post you ever make in any forum, and I will be your personal on-call pocket healer in any BG you play.
That is how strongly I believe what you said is pure fabricated BS.
The larger point I’m trying to get across is Classic should still resemble Classic. 100% no chance of RFD. Supposedly the quest interface from original Wrath was going to be a thing, but i guess they silently nixed that? Then they added a vendor purchasable with real money outside of the game. Now they are adding in Mythic+ dungeons (just calling them Heroic+), and giving bonus rewards if you’re a tank/healer.
None of these things were the way it was in original Wrath, and I’m sure I’m either missing some changes, or they are going to make more changes. They might as well change the name to Wrath Remake, because it’s not going to feel like classic wrath.
Regarding the vendor - I get it, you can’t sell to it. But that’s yet another “gateway” change, inching towards pay to win. It’s almost as if they are trying to get as close to pay to win without actually crossing that line. If they’re not careful they will cross that line without intending to.
One other thing. Nobody quit the game over RFD. By the end of Wrath they had their peak number of subscribers. Cata’s a discussion for another thread, but we all know that’s what caused the mass exodus.
